Lincoln is teeming with success! Cross Country had a great showing at State; Lincoln musicians were chosen for the ILMEA Festival; and, the Mount Prospect Police Department's "Fist Bump Friday" was awesome. Our dance and basketball team tryouts are wrapped up and the first basketball game is already on the books for Wednesday. Chess Club is on the boards; Yearbook Club photographers have their press passes; and, Creative Writing, Open Studio Art Club, and Anime Clubs are sharing an abundance of artistic talent. Lincoln is busy and Quarter 2 is off to a great start!
The weather is warming up this weekend . . . enjoy! Don't forget, next Friday, October 28 is a day of non-attendance for students.
Sincerely,
Eric Larson, Principal
IMPORTANT QUARTER INFORMATION FROM MR. STEEN
October 21 is the last day of Quarter 1. For Quarter 2, all students will have a different broad experience class and some students may have a change in Spanish/French, PE, or board experience class depending on whether they are adding or dropping CSO/MTSS. Please note that all schedule changes can be viewed in the PowerSchool Portal by clicking on “My Schedule” and then “Matrix View”. Please note that Report Cards are not sent home, with the exception of the final Report Card in June. To view the Quarter 1 Report Card, please log into the PowerSchool Portal. Report Cards will be available for viewing starting on Friday, October 28.
Health education classes will begin in PE classes during Quarter 2. Lessons incorporate the Illinois Health Standards, i.e., coping with stress; understanding emotions; and changes during the teen years. The health grade is included in the PE grade on the Portal, but will have separate health categories. The two grades are averaged as one grade on the Portal and for the report card.

HERE'S WHAT'S HAPPENING ON HALLOWEEN
Students have the option to "dress up" for Halloween on Monday, October 31. Here are a few guidelines:
- No masks or inappropriate props (inappropriate props include weapons and look-alike weapons).
- No blood or violent themes.
- The regular Lincoln dress code applies (no exposed undergarments, no inappropriate images or words, etc.).
- "Dressing up" for Halloween does not have to mean a traditional costume. You may choose to wear orange and/or black or simply choose to wear a favorite sports team jersey.
- Any costume deemed by a teacher to be inappropriate or interferes with the lesson will not be allowed and the student will be sent to the office.
If you have any questions regarding these guidelines, please feel free to contact Mr. Steen. (rsteen@d57.org)
CONGRATULATIONS!

FAQs for the Office . . .
Question: What is the best way to pick up my child during the school day?
Answer:
- The front office prefers either a signed note or an email to Mrs. Moran - rmoran@d57.org AND Mrs. Harrington - aharrington@d57.org from a parent with the child's name, grade level, the reason for early dismissal, and pick-up time. Also, please include the name of the adult picking up your child if it is not a parent.
- It may be necessary to issue your child a pass if the pick-up time is during a class period. Otherwise, your child should come to the office during the passing period. Written notice eliminates the need for a parent to come in and sign the child out. When your car pulls up outside Door #1, your student may exit from the front office.
- If you do not know in advance and must remove your child from class, please come into the front office and we will call your student out of class. However, this can be disruptive to the class and may involve a longer wait time.
