"Be Committed, Be Consistent, Be Courageous"
Rebirth & Growth
Hello Phoenix Nation,
May is here! By now, you have probably seen the classic “It’s gonna be May” meme featuring Justin Timberlake or you have joined in with friends and family on a countdown to summer. For many educators throughout the country, May is viewed as the last month before vacation. While this is undoubtedly true, racing towards the end is in complete contradiction of the word “May”. The month of May takes its name from Maia in Greek mythology. It’s a month of rebirth and growth.
There is still much growth happening during the month of May. We can still see the increases, not only to nature, but to all those around us, including our scholars. Let May be a new beginning to start something great for yourself or others. Continue to be a risk-taker this month and let your goals blossom and your aspirations take hold as we continue to make the most of each and every day. It’s natural to have a countdown, but let's not miss an opportunity for growth.
"In the end, we only regret the chances we didn’t take." – Lewis Carroll
Wishing you health, love, and peace of mind,
Priscilla, Chataqua, Chrissy, and Jabez

Things to Know
ELLevation Resources for Distance Learning: Instructional Activities: Enhance your lessons with effective activities specifically adapted for distance learning. Help ELs continue to develop language and learn academic content, no matter the learning environment. Find activities that help you differentiate for students in any grade level or content area, complete with demonstration videos, graphic organizers, slide decks, work examples and more. https://distance.ellevationeducation.com/activities
CTL Applications: CTL applications have been shared by your content chairs from Uplift. If you're interested in applying, refer to the emails and info shared on Blackboard.
Move Out/EOY Checklist: From Mr. Walker - May 4th will be the first day of checking out Hampton Middle School teachers for classroom, key, badge, and technology only. You will be allowed to keep your badge and laptop if you are returning. All laptop surrenders will not occur until the last week of May. We will send a laptop surrender schedule out prior to that week for those teachers not returning.
I have attached the roster below and the check out form you will be using for check out. The checkout time each day will be 9:00am – 2:00pm. Please be on time! Although we set the time from 9am – 2pm, we expect you to be done before 2pm as the average checkout time for Primary was around 12:30pm each day. Review the attached checkout form and checkout procedures below prior to your assigned date. We will have hard copies of the check-out form for you on campus, so there is no need to make a copy.
Ed Tech Support - There is online training support for teachers to support getting more familiar with the Ed Tech tools. In Blackboard, everyone is enrolled in the IT Training class. In that class, there is a section for Educational Technology that includes a folder for most of our network Ed Tech tools with training resources. Here is a direct link -- https://uplift.blackboard.com/webapps/blackboard/content/listContentEditable.jsp?content_id=_73619_1&course_id=_335_1&mode=reset
Every teacher has access to these resources and hopefully will help them get more comfortable with Ed Tech.
Uplift has published information on Uplink on the Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA): A provision in House Bill 3 that gives school districts the opportunity to create a local designation system that identifies the top 30% of classroom teachers state-wide as “recognized,” “exemplary,” and “master”. Districts across the state of Texas with designated teachers will receive an allotment ranging from $3,000-$32,000 for each teacher with said designation that goes toward compensation at the campus where the teacher works. Take time to review the information on Uplink as this is an exciting opportunity for teachers in TX and for teachers in Uplift. The network will send out a survey to all teachers next week to collect more input on TIA – and it will be helpful to know more about what TIA is beforehand.
Just in Case You Didn’t Know: Last day of school for Scholars: May 22 and the last for Staff: May 26
