Juniors! Apply to Intern Omaha to jumpstart your career!
Starting November 30th, all juniors at Millard Public Schools will have the opportunity to apply for an internship through the Intern Omaha Program. Intern Omaha partners with school districts and employers with the goal to provide yearlong work-based learning opportunities to high school seniors across Omaha. The program has paid internships available with more than 90 unique employers and in careers fields such as Automotive, Trades/Manufacturing, Technology, Healthcare, Business and Nonprofit management.
If you get hired by an employer, you will be working at your internships from Summer 2021 until you graduate in 2022. Additionally, students that get hired will be able to gain high school and college credits by taking courses that help you gain employability skills. Lastly, you will have your very own Internship Coordinator, which will help through every step of your internship and support you as you take your next big step in your career!
You are probably thinking, this sounds great! But how do I get in? Well here are the steps that you need to take:
Start preparing your resumé so you can be ready to apply
Look for available internships through the Intern Omaha website https://www.internomaha.org/home/apply, which will become available on November 30th.
Start applying for internships that are of interest to you and your career goals. The application timeline will be from November 30th through January 15th.
Let your counselor know that you applied for Intern Omaha so they are aware that you may need a flexible schedule during your senior year.
Prepare for potential interviews throughout February and March 2021
Expect an answer by April 2021 and inform your counselor if you were selected for Intern Omaha.
So if you are ready to jumpstart your career and you expect to have a flexible schedule during your senior year, you know what to do! If you have any questions please contact, Jan Benitez from the Intern Omaha team at jbenitez@internomaha.org

Children's Respite Care Center
Is your child struggling with social, emotional, and/or behavioral problems at home or school? Untreated behavioral and emotional needs form barriers to learning for students, and, if untreated, can impact the entire classroom and family. We partner with Children's Respite Care Center to improve access to mental health services for students and families who are in need of counseling support. Parents or interested students are encouraged to reach out to the school social workers for more information or to complete a referral.
