How much time do you have?
5 Minutes
- Try a breathing exercise: Inhale for 5 counts, hold for 5, exhale for 5, hold for 5, repeat.
- Dance or sing to a favorite song.
- Change positions: stretch your legs, arms, and back.
- Take a quick walk outside.
- Water your plants or garden.
15 Minutes
- Organize a small space in your home.
- Play with your kids. Do something simple like color or draw with them.
- Call a friend or family member to check in.
- Take a power nap.
- Take a bath or shower.
30 Minutes
- Read a book or watch a TV show.
- Download a mindfulness app.
- Play a game or work on a puzzle.
- Go for a jog or any physical activity that makes you happy.
Student Well-Being: Mental Health Teacher Toolkit
PISD School Social Workers are committed to empowering and supporting students, families, schools and communities by identifying factors and barriers to learning that affect student and family functioning, so that all students can realize their full potential and personal value.
Social Work services include:
- Individual mental health therapy
- Intense family case management and support
- Referrals to community agencies
- Staff consultation and collaboration
- Staff mental health training
- Home visits
- Trauma support
Students and families can be referred to a School Social Worker through a campus School Counselor or Administrator. Please contact your campus School Counselor for more information.
