Gratitude: WEEK 3
Happy Sunday Buccaneers!
Can you believe we have 23 days before the end of this semester!
First and foremost, we would like to congratulate our students who reached Captain, First Mate, and Quartermaster status on the last progress report. We are so very proud of you!!!!
We, the SOM staff, are here to root for each and every one of our Buccaneer Scholars to finish strong! Students, please make sure you are showing up to class, being actively present, engaging in discussion, turning in assignments, and checking your grades to ensure you are not staying behind. The administration, our counselors, and our resource teachers will be meeting with all of our students to conduct our second PEP (personal education plans) meetings. We will be meeting through our PE classes on Wednesday and Thursday of this week. We cannot wait to see you!!!
We had a very successful Second Parent Progress Report Meeting last Friday. We had over 67 parents participate. Thank you for your participation and your suggestions. I also want to thank Ms. Duran, Mr. Olivera, Dr. Barker, Ms. Parreñas, Mr. Garnica-Mendoza, and Ms. Santana for joining us and sharing their stories and advise. We are a community and need to work together to help our Buccaneer Scholars attain academic and social-emotional success.
Finally, these next couple of weeks will be very busy. We continue with our Performance Tasks and will be getting ready for our End of Course assessments.
May we have an amazing week!
Julissa
CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR STAR STUDENTS!

November Celebrations
NOVEMBER IS NATIONAL AMERICAN INDIAN HERITAGE MONTH
The Library of Congress, National Archives and Records Administration, National Endowment for the Humanities, National Gallery of Art, National Park Service, Smithsonian Institution, and United States Holocaust Memorial Museum join in paying tribute to the rich ancestry and traditions of Native Americans. Veterans & Military Families Month
Veterans & Military Families Month was established in 1996 by the Armed Services YMCA, with the U.S. Government recognizing the occasion every year since. Each November, the President signs a proclamation declaring November National Veterans & Military Families Month, and with hundreds of thousands of service members deployed overseas, recognizing the daily sacrifices made by active duty, Guard, and Reserve military families has never been more important.

National Diabetes Month
National Inspirational Role Models Month
November recognizes National Inspirational Role Models Month. No matter your age, gender, or stage of life, having someone who inspires you to be the best version of yourself is always a positive thing. Perhaps it’s a friend, a celebrity or an activist. Whether the person is high-profile or not isn’t important. Their character and ability to inspire, guide and teach carries much more value. This month, focus on the person who motivates you and thank them for the leadership.
