The Falcon Flash

Second Semester is Approaching!

Principal's Message

Hello Falcon Families,

I hope that everyone had a safe and relaxing winter break! While folks were out of the building, our custodial crew did a bang up job of maintaining Fox River! It looks great! As we approach second semester and the New Year it is great to reflect on everything that we have accomplished together.

* A return to a fully functioning building!

*Successfully integrating our second 6th grade class to the new Fox River!

*Bringing athletics back to our students!

* Starting WEB (Where Everybody Belongs)--A great club that has 8th graders mentoring 6th graders

*The return of music concerts!

* Veteran's Day

* First school dance in over 1.5 years

*Staff, students and community are using the fitness room!

*Students are switching classes and going to chosen electives!

*Student council started back up!

*Field trips are back!

* Recognized as a Best Middle School by US News and Niche!

* Students took the Pre-ACT that was encouraged by WUHS!

*Raised nearly $5000 for Honor Flight participants!

*FR distributed gifts to families in need over the break.

*FAB LAB has been the recipient of tremendous gifts through Donor's Choose and grants!

*Fox River was the host to our first ever Winterfest thanks to the Waterford Rec Dept.

* Millions of other little things that could be listed!

Thank you for your support and trusting us with your student each and every day. We truly honor the chance to make a difference in your student's life.

From all of the Fox River Staff--we hope that you have a terrific 2022!

Incoming 6th Grade Falcons (current 5th graders)

The link will take you to a letter that was sent to all current 5th grade families. It is a communication that provides some information to our incoming Falcons as they prepare to transition to Fox River Middle School:

Current 6th and 7th Grade Families and Class Selection for 2022-23

Our student services team is currently in the process of updating our course selection guides for 7th and 8th grade courses. We anticipate going into 7th and 8th grade classes during the first two weeks of February. During this time, counselors will describe the process of choosing classes for the 2022-23 school year. Students will be required to bring home their class selection form and it will need to be signed by a parent/guardian.

We will send out more communication to families as we move closer to our classroom visits.

Current 8th Graders:

Soon your child will be getting their Freshman folder to bring home from school. In there will be the Course Description Guide, Freshman Course offerings, and The Blue Sheet!

What is the Blue sheet?!

-This is their course registration sheet. It will already have their core course recommendations. You and your student will be in charge of picking out electives!

-You'll then bring the completed blue sheet to your child's counselor during one of the course registration nights

Reminder: OPEN HOUSE January 26th 530-730

PBIS at Fox River: The Falcon Cart!

What is PBIS--Take a peek at this link:

Each week students earn Falcon Feathers for being respectable, responsible and safe. Anytime a student earns a Falcon Feather they can redeem it when the Falcon Cart comes around on Friday mornings. Students can choose from a variety of snacks and fruit drinks.

The Falcon Cart is a terrific way to reward students who are lining up to the Falcon Code! Student volunteers are the ones who actually push the cart from class to class and collect Falcon Feathers and pass out snacks! This is going on our 5th year of rewarding our students!

Our Falcon Cart could not be possible without the generous donations from our families! Thank you for all of your generosity and support.

Fox River Classroom Updates

WUHS Choir is Visiting Fox River Middle School

WUH Choir will travel to each school at the end of January to perform for about 30 minutes. They will sing a couple songs and the overall message being delivered is one of "GET INVOLVED!"

WUHS Choir will highlight all the clubs, activities, athletics, and of course music offered at the high school. For the 8th graders, it is also an opportunity to give them time to ask questions of the WUHS students about those different opportunities.

We are thrilled to be hosting this fabulous event!

Front Office

Please double check your account to ensure there are no outstanding registration fees or class fees. Fees can be paid through Skyward Family Access with eFunds or in person in the office.

Students should also check the lost and found table located in the commons/lunchroom. Items not claimed by the end of January will be boxed up and donated (pictures included in the classroom updates).

In January, counselors will be working with all fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth grade students to assist them with their class registration selections for next school year as well as share transition information. This is an exciting time as we all start thinking about progressing and planning for the next grade level.
