Point View School
NEWSLETTER - Week 3, Term 4 - 5 November 2021
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Thank you to all families who have already indicated their intentions if we are given the opportunity to return to school before the end of the year. Please complete this form if you have not done so yet. We will close it midday Monday.
So far, after 404 responses representing 527 students, the response is balanced:
Right now, we are waiting for the Ministries of Health and Education to provide us with advice. Until we are given this, the current arrangement of ‘bubbles’ in the school will remain.
I can assure you that when we do open the school for students, be it this year or not until next, we will do so in way that will minimise health risks. All teachers on site will be fully vaccinated and recently tested.
Whilst following Government guidelines, we hope to be able to respect the decisions of families in the short term, to send their children to school or not. As soon as we have more details, we will share them with you.
Meanwhile, please enjoy this newsletter with images of our community learning at home.
Staff Updates for 2022
Congratulations to Biata Hilder who has secured a teaching position at Matua Ngaru School in Huapai from the start of next year. Biata and her husband have shifted north, out of range of our school so she has had to make this change. Biata's leadership of our Enviro Team and her contributions to teaching and learning in both the Middle and Junior Syndicates, have been outstanding. I am sure you will join me in wishing Biata great success and happiness in her new school.
Another staff change for next year will be in Room 18. Penny Gibson will be taking a year away from full time classroom teaching to spend time with family. I am pleased to say that she plans to be back in the classroom at Point View in 2023.
Sandy Walker has decided it is time for her to retire at the end of this year. Sandy has worked tirelessly as our Business Manager over the past 8 years. Efficient, professional and always approachable, Sandy is a trusted colleague we shall miss greatly. I am sure you will all join me in wishing her a long, healthy and happy retirement.
On behalf of us all at Point View School I wish each one of our families, health and happiness during these ever-changing times.
Robin Kirkham, Principal
ENROLMENTS FOR 2022
If you live in the school zone and have a child turning five next year now is the time to pre-enrol them. Early pre-enrol is a huge help with our planning for classes in 2022.
Enrolments applications are online In Zone Enrolment Application. If you have any questions please email enrol@pointview.school.nz.
YEAR 6 GRADUATION T-SHIRTS
FACTATHON
Due to the uncertainty of when we will return to school, we have decided to complete our 2021 Factathon online. Students have been revising their facts, and next week at their online class meeting, the teachers will ask the children a selection of questions, which they will mark together. Your child will be able to tell you how well they did.
As the children cannot leave their bubble to collect money from sponsors, we hope that families will be able to make a donation. Payment will need to be done online through your KINDO account (you can type over the amount shown to put in your correct sponsorship money amount),
The money raised will be used towards the upgrade of our school’s outdoor learning and play environments. Work has started already and will continue during the Christmas holidays. This is such an exciting project, which will be enjoyed by everyone.
DONATIONS CLOSE ON TUESDAY 23 NOVEMBER 2021
