ALBUTEROL PARENT NOTIFICATION
Dear Parents or Guardians,
We are writing to inform you about a new school health program that will make schools safer for students with asthma. In 2019 Oklahoma passed Senate Bill 381, which allows your child’s school to maintain and administer an albuterol inhaler to treat students who experience sudden life-threatening respiratory distress while at school. Albuterol is an inhaled medication that quickly opens the tubes that move air into and out of the lungs, making breathing easier. This medication is safe and effective. Because an asthma attack can happen at any time, having quick access to albuterol is vital to make schools safe for children with asthma.
Personnel from your child’s school are trained to quickly and safely respond to respiratory emergencies. While school staff will make every effort to contact parents before giving albuterol, the law allows them to administer albuterol in an emergency without prior parental consent.
If your child has asthma, we urge you to notify your child’s school and provide them with an asthma action plan from your child’s doctor. Because the stock albuterol inhaler is not intended to replace a child’s personal inhaler, we also encourage you to send a personal albuterol inhaler for use at school if your child has asthma.
If you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to get in touch with your school’s health office.
We Need POPCORN POPPERS!
Birthday Treat Reminder
Birthday treats must be store-bought, pre-packaged in their original sealed container. They must be brought to school by the student in his or her backpack (a great example is "Little Debbie" snacks).
No refrigerated or bakery items may be served.
Treats cannot be accepted at the office to be delivered to class.
Thank you!
SUBSTITUTES NEEDED
DEER CREEK HEALTH HUB
ATTENDANCE – TARDIES AND LEAVE EARLY
Please make sure, if you check your child in late to school or you check them out early, that you bring us a doctor's note. Any Tardy/check out early (without a note) counts toward your child's absences which count toward Chronic Absenteeism. After 10 days of absences (without a Doctor's note), the District will require you to attend an Attendance Hearing per State guidelines.
It is critical to your child's learning that he/she is in school each day. If you have an extenuating circumstance, please reach out to the office.
COVID NOTIFICATIONS UPDATE
Be sure to download the app--PBIS Rewards for Parents! On this app, you will be able to see your child's PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) points that they earn to spend on class items, end of quarter parties, and other fun items! You'll also have information on major and minor behavior referrals if they occur. This is a great tool for asking your child how their day went!! You should have received an email from PBIS Rewards. If you have not, please email stephanieandraszek@dcsok.org and I would be glad to send another, or I can send home a hard copy of the letter with login information specific to your child's account.

STUDENT INSURANCE
“The Deer Creek School District has made arrangements to offer Student Accident Insurance for all students from K&K Insurance Group. We make this coverage available to parents for their children who are students enrolled in our schools. The Deer Creek School District does not provide insurance coverage or medical reimbursements to parents for injuries that occur during school, including those incurred during gym classes, recess, etc.
While this coverage is optional, it is important that you review the coverage options available to you and consider purchasing this coverage, especially if your family has health insurance with a high co-payment for doctor and emergency visits, or a high-deductible plan, etc. Go to the link below for the application and additional information.
