Ms. April Bryom was the recipient of a QSM grant to enrich hands-on math and science instruction in her first-grade classroom. She received materials such as manipulatives, file folder games, and other activities for her math centers. Congratulations to Ms. Byrom!

Santa Claus came to visit the students at Glendale on December 19, 2017. Each class performed for parents and visitors.

KSE’s Ugly Christmas Sweater Contest was held on 12/15/17. Students were allowed to wear jeans and sport their ugliest Christmas sweater creations.
All aboard! On December 15, 2017 KSE students wore PJs and decorated cookies for a magical day as they celebrated their annual celebration of Chris Van Allsburg's beloved classic The Polar Express!
NORTHEAST ELEMENTARY
Northeast Golden Honor Students who earned all A’s for the second nine weeks period were awarded gold scarfs.
OPELOUSAS HIGH SCHOOL
Madison Sinclair Andrus of Columbia University in the City of New York, visited Opelousas High School to visit with members of the junior class about considering attending Columbia after graduation. Ms. Andrus, a native of Lafayette and a 2017 graduate of the Early College Academy, discussed the requirements for admittance, financial aid packages, safety concerns within the city and university grounds and job placement opportunities with the students. The students learned about the activities available on campus from Greek life and political activism, about access to public enrichment activities like the majority of New York’s famous museums and discounts to the many cultural activities such as plays and shows.
