Absence Reporting Update - Families
The Central Bucks School District is changing the way in which absences are reported, beginning on the first day of school, August 30, 2021.
Key Points:
- Parents and guardians will be able to submit absence requests via the Parent Portal. Parents can request a full day absence, early dismissal, or late arrival.
- Absence requests will be reviewed by school attendance staff and approved or denied.
- Requests made using the parent portal will also serve as the excuse for the absence. Parents will not be required to submit an excuse either electronic or written.
- Parents and guardians can also still call the school to report an absence, but emails will no longer be accepted.
In addition, when a student is absent from school, but the school did not receive communication from the parent or guardian, the following communication will be sent:
- A text message will be sent mid-morning notifying the parent or guardian of the absence
- An email will also be sent at the end of the school day reminding the parent or guardian that the student was marked absent.
Information regarding how to use the Parent Portal to report an absence can be found here.
Aramark - Food Services Update
School districts throughout the region are having a challenging time getting ordered food from vendors and ARAMARK in CBSD is making adjustments and planning accordingly. Often times, shipments contain alternative food choices and items different than what is planned on the menu each month. Please note, ARAMARK will ALWAYS have breakfast and lunch available for the students in your school, but the menu may deviate from what is printed.
Aramark is doing what they can to follow the menus but most importantly, to make sure each CBSD student has a meal. If questions, please contact Aramark in CBSD at #267-893-5754.
All menus are available to be viewed online up to 2 weeks in advance by visiting cbsd.nutrislice.com.
Students are still entitled to one complete reimbursable breakfast per day and one complete reimbursable lunch per day. Any second entrée will be charged to the students’ lunch account. We encourage all families to put money on their students account through MySchoolBucks.com as there will be no cash transactions this year in an effort to serve the students as safely and swiftly as possible.
CHIP (CHILDREN’S HEALTH INSURANCE PROGRAM)
CHIP is short for the Children's Health Insurance Program, Pennsylvania's program to provide health insurance to uninsured children and teens who are not eligible for or enrolled in Medical Assistance.
CHIP is brought to you by leading health insurance companies. You'll have a choice of major insurance companies with networks of physicians, specialists, and care facilities near you. Your kids may even be able to keep visiting the same doctors they see today.
Car Rider Arrival & Dismissal Reminders
We are always reviewing practices and procedures for our Arrival and Dismissal procedures for Carline. Please be reminded:
ARRIVAL
- School Doors officially open at 8:45 AM.
- PLEASE have car-riders REMAIN in vehicles until staff is in place at 8:45 AM.
- Walkers will be assembling under the canopy by the front doors, but we request car-riders remain in vehicles so traffic is not moving while children are walking to school.
- We will have a crosswalk attendee supporting student walker arrival and traffic flow.
- Please keep your eyes open for student walkers and adhere to speed limit postings.
DISMISSAL
- Car-Rider dismissal takes place from our Gym Atrium Doors.
- Parents remain in vehicles at all times; a staff member will call the student to meet the vehicle around our curb.
- Use our school placard; please contact the office for copies.
With the start of the new year, timing will continue to improve - new routines for students and personnel will take time. Soon, our dismissal procedures will be efficient and familiar - we just ask (kindly) for your understanding and patience.

INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC PROGRAM SIGN-UP
If you would like to play a string or band instrument this year, you can sign up HERE.
- String Lessons are available to 4th, 5th, and 6th graders.
- Band Lessons are available to 5th and 6th graders.
Even if your son or daughter chose not to play an instrument last year, they are still welcome to sign-up as a new instrumental student! Mr. Robinson (Band Director) and Mrs. Hartzell (Orchestra Director) want to see a lot of new band and string students this year and cannot wait to get started! We look forward to preparing for concerts and performances once again. Recently we held an instrument assembly for 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students in the second week of school to demonstrate all of the different instruments, answer questions, and share with students the joy of being a musician and joining the music program. We always encourage students to pick the instrument that they most like the sound of.
If you have any questions, please email the string or band director:
