Principal's Corner
With conferences just around the corner, I wanted to encourage you to take time with your child's teacher and your child to focus on your child's successes. Sometimes we forget to focus on how much they've grown and learned since walking through those doors in August.
I loved the idea from Jon Gordon about 5 ways to develop positive kids. One of the ideas was to focus on their Success of the Day.
Success of the Day – Each night before bed, at dinner or while taking an after dinner walk ask your children their success of the day. The success could be a great conversation, an accomplishment at school, something they are proud of, a situation where they helped someone, etc. The important thing is to help them focus on accomplishments instead of failures. When we help our children expect success, look for success, and celebrate success they find more success and gain more confidence. Of course they need to learn from their mistakes and failures, but let’s help them to not dwell on them.
I hope you can also walk away with 1 or 2 takeaways to focus on. Takeaways are things that you as a family can do to move things forward in the areas of academics or effort.

The doors will be unlocked during arrival and dismissal, with staff members around the front doors. We will no longer be propping them open at the end of the day, but you are still welcome to wait inside for your child.
Kindergarten Round Up
There will be no Kindergarten classes on this day.
If you are enrolling your child in either half day AM or Fee Based Full Day Kindergarten you will want to do that on this day. Only five sites (Madison Place, Regency Place, Millbrooke, Sunnyside, Manchester Park) will offer PM kindergarten and there is an application for it that will be included in your roundup materials. No fees will be collected at this time. You will need to bring the following:
- Child's Birth Certificate
- Immunization Record
- Must be 5 on or before August 31, 2016.

District Parent Survey
Dear Parents/Guardians:
Each year we seek input from the parents/guardians of the students in our district. Your input helps us target areas of improvement. Survey results are analyzed district wide, results are provided to the Board of Education, and we will receive and analyze the results from our school. If you have a specific concern, I encourage you to speak directly with someone, such as the person(s) with whom you have the concern, your student’s classroom teacher, or with me.
The anonymous survey should take approximately 10 minutes to complete. You may access the survey by clicking on the link below.
The survey is intended to allow for one response per household. If you receive the survey link from multiple schools, you only need to complete one survey. You may also complete the survey onsite at the upcoming Parent Teacher Conferences on February 10th or 11th. Computers will be available for accessing the survey at each building. Additionally, accessing the survey via a QR code will be an option for parents who wish to complete the survey on any Smartphone or other portable device.
Thank you for taking time to provide your feedback. We value your input.

Apreciados Padres/Guardianes:
