Notes from Mrs. Hogan
First, I want to thank you for your flexibility and willingness to meet me on a separate day and time other than the official conference day. I am just about finished with parent-teacher conferences. As you review the work in your folder from our conference please do not hesitate to ask me any questions.
I am looking forward to many exciting activities that we will have to collaborate with other classes across the global. Our leaf exchange letters will be mailed off this week, we will start to connect on our author study of Peter Reynolds through The Global Read Aloud and learn about blogging with The Primary Blogging Community.
Snack Demos are wrapping up
Thank you all for supporting the Primer students with their snack demonstrations. I know this will be a great memory from the year.

Music Matters From Mrs. Awbrey
In music, our Primer musicians have been busy singing, playing instruments and moving to music.
Already, these young students have been able to identify musical patterns and chart them. We listened to "Sugar, Sugar" by the Archies and they identified each section of the song. They also love playing "High and Low Detective". It seems that our little "Betty Martin" keeps hiding our jewels and we have to find them. Have your student share this fun song and game with you.
Update on Marathon Kids
Global Read Aloud begins on Monday

Changing the Odds Conferecne
Please know that when I am out of the classroom I leave copious details in my plans with the same resources I use in the classroom. Rest assured when I learn, the class learns as well. The next time I am with the Primer students after attending a conference, I will try out what I just learned. With the help of the tech department, I will Skype into the class and tell the students what I am doing and give them clues about where I am.
Homecoming at ESD
Students that ordered buttons and mums for homecoming will receive these during the week. Students can wear these as long as they are not a distraction. If they become a distraction students will be instructed to pin the button or mum on their backpack.
Hairy money
If you can count by fives, you can count money. I have included a a picture of the hairy money so you can see what we do The work we are doing is laying the foundation to counting a collection of coins. When your child encounters a collection of coins, they will first draw their hairs on the coins and then count by fives and last count the pennies.
Spooktacular
In your child's red folder tomorrow you will find a document detailing your options for pick up. Please return these sheets marked with your plan for dismissal by Wednesday, October 8.
