A Note From Mr. Christ
Dear Paddock Families,
I hope you all have had a great weekend so far. We have some busy weeks coming up with Family Reading Night, Picture Retakes, Halloween celebrations, PTA events, and more. Please do not hesitate to reach out to the Paddock main office or your student's teacher if you have any questions about upcoming events. We are looking forward to our students being able to mix in some fun activities and events amidst all the hard work they have been doing academically. #Pantherpride!
Have a great week-
Jason Christ

Standards Based Grading
D15 Standards Based Grading Guidance: Students are provided feedback by using a mastery scale based on what they have been taught so far in terms of the standard. For example: Students show mastery on current coursework and what they have been taught so far so they are given a 3 on an assignment even if the entire standard hasn’t been covered yet.
This guidance is different than another approach that may be currently in use in some schools:
Non-D15 Grading Approach: Students are provided with grade/rating based on the whole standard. For example: if a standard has multiple parts and the assessment only assesses one part of the standard, even if students get the question completely correct they could only get a 2 because it doesn't address the whole standard. District 15 is not following this approach.
We acknowledge that rationale for each approach is valid, however, we are moving forward with the D15 Standards Based Grading Guidance listed above in order to use consistent and equitable grading practices across the district.
Based on the D15 Grading Guidance, students should be evaluated on the standard in terms of what has been taught so far. It is important to note that this will make it possible for students to get a “3” but then as you go deeper into the standard and expand the standard, they may change to a “2” if they do not yet show mastery. Additionally, as the rigor and complexity of the work increases, students will engage with standards in a variety of ways, thus sometimes they are meeting (score 3) and other times progressing (score 2).
