High Marq Environmental Charter School

Upham Woods

Our first Field Day back from Spring Break was full of fun and new experiences! Marc and Alex were back from Upham Woods to continue their lesson on carbon sequestration and show students the impact of carbon on our daily lives. Students used tools as well as their math skills to determine how old our school forest is, as well as how much of our forest would need to be used in order to fuel an airplane (it was over 700 trees!). Students also journaled from their phenology spots in the morning, played some Bird Bingo, and went on a bird hike at our school forest. It was a full and thoughtful day! Special thanks to Marc and Alex for coming to Montello to teach a great day!
