Kindergarten News
Kindergarteners have all become " First Graders In Training " this past week. We are almost ready to move on to the next grade. We ask students to review their sight words and read this summer.
1st Grade News
It is hard to believe that the year has almost come to an end already! Your children have grown so much this year and we are very proud of them!
In ELA we will be reviewing Unit 5, as well as doing some end of the year writing activities! Please remember to read with your child this summer and practice their sight words!
In math we will be continuing module 5 which focuses on identifying, composing, and partitioning shapes. Students will explore 2D and 3D shapes, distinguishing their attributes, compose shapes to create a composite shape, and partition shapes to two and four equal shares. They will become familiar with using phrases such as half of, fourth of and quarter of to describe the shares. The students will also apply their knowledge and understanding of halves to help them tell time to the hour and half hour. Please help your child practice addition and subtraction within 20 over the summer!
HAVE A GREAT SUMMER!!
Happy Summer Vacation!
We have had an amazing year in 2nd grade! Recently we had our field trip to Interskate 91 where everyone had a great time skating and climbing in the playquest! We also learned a little bit about how a roller skate works and what each part does. We are now experts at taking apart roller skates! Thank you to all the chaperones for helping to make our day a success! Now it is onto 3rd grade! Remember to READ for 20 minutes everyday and to practice your math facts this summer!! Have a great summer!
To our incoming 2ndgraders, we can’t wait to hear about your summer and all the exciting things that you have been doing! Remember to read this summer and practice your math facts too!
Goodbye 4th and Hello Summer!
The fourth-grade staff would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for an incredible year. We want to wish you a very happy summer vacation and hope that you take the time to kick-back, relax, and have some fun with family and friends. In order to help keep up with the many skills learned this year, please read the following activities you can do over the summer in order to help prevent the summer slide!
· Engageny.org: download and print the homework pages to keep up with math skills. We recommend focusing on the multiplication/division units, fractions, and decimals.
· Master Basic Facts up to 12 X 12
· Read! Read! Read! Go to the local library and book stores to find high interest books.
· Reading.ecb.org: Free online game play to keep up with comprehension strategies.
· Start a pen-pal with a fellow classmate.
Spending 30 minutes a day on any of these activities will help to prepare you for the upcoming 5th grade year!

Happy Summer!
We would like to welcome our new students to Palmer! We feel very fortunate that we have students from all over the world that bring cultural diversity to our classrooms. It has been a wonderful and exciting year of growth for our students. Parents should look out for WIDA ACCESS scores which have been sent home with your child.
We wish everyone a happy and safe summer and look forward to another great year of learning!
