Wimmer's Weekly

Welcome Back!
Since I didn't send out a Monday Mail newsletter last week, here is a short recap:
I asked my students to take a syllabus home and have it signed...if you did so, thank you!
English IV students were assigned a "Senior Expectations" essay. The final draft is due Wednesday, September 5th, and the students have been meeting checkpoints since last Wednesday.
Yearbook staff members are just worked on getting to know each other and Mitchell Correia cleaned out the equipment closet (YAY!!) for us.

Meet Mrs. Wimmer
One of the things that I feel strongly about is parent/teacher communication. I feel that in order for my students and parents to feel comfortable in contacting me, it is important that they know a little about me.
I was born in Lubbock, TX and grew up in Muleshoe. While I was in high school, I was very involved in 4-H where I raised show pigs and also competed in speaking events and taught homemaking classes to younger kids. I think that was where I caught the teaching bug! That and my grandmother, Nanny, was a very respected 4th grade teacher.
I went to SWT (now Texas State) where I received a degree in Broadcast Production and Journalism, and I minored in English. In my last semester there, I met my husband, Max and decided to go ahead and pursue my teaching certification.
I began teaching in Poteet, TX, where I taught English I, II, and III for two years. After living south of San Antonio, away from family and friends, we decided to move to San Antonio proper and I took a job at Seguin HS teaching English III. After seven years and teaching English I, II, III, and IV, and adding a sweet baby girl named Ella to the family, Max and I decided New Braunfels was the place for us and I was lucky enough to secure a job teaching English and Yearbook (which is definitely a passion of mine).
Ella is a fourth grader at Lamar Elementary and Max teaches 6th Social Studies at Brooks Collegiate Academy in San Antonio. We love New Braunfels and are happy to be a part of this great community.
