The Ridge in Review
September 16th- September 24th
HAPPY FRIDAY BEFORE THE BREAK
Parents,
As we head into fall break, we your admin team would like to share a couple of reminders as you take the week to rest and reflect.
· In the lunchroom, we ask that your students pick up after themselves by throwing their trash away when they are finished eating.
· The tardy policy is, has been and will continue to remain in effect. If your student is tardy to school and it is excused, then the note must be turned in within 5 days. You can read more about our tardy policy here - Tardy Policy 2022-2023.docx.
· Please remind your student to be kind. We shared with them in class meetings – if it’s not kind, it’s not true, or it’s not necessary – don’t do it.
· Lost and Found items can be found in 1201. These items will be donated Friday, September 30th.
· Your student will attend homeroom/TAA on Wednesday, September 28th - they will vote for Homecoming Court and take a Teens in the Driver’s Seat Survey - (see information and opt out option below)
The Cherokee County School District (CCSD) is partnering with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), local agencies, and child welfare advocates to bring a Parent University event about how to address mental health with students, trends in student mental health and the impact of social media. The target audience is parents/guardians and children ages 11 and up. Parent University: Student Mental Health, Wellness and Suicide Prevention will take place at Woodstock City Church on the evening of Thursday, September 29th from 6:30-8:30pm. Please see the Parent University Flyer for more details. Through CCSD’s partnership with Northside Hospital Cherokee, each family in attendance will receive a copy Michelle Borba’s book Unselfie: Why Empathetic Kids Succeed in Our All-About-Me World. Woodstock City Church will be providing dessert and coffee as well.

Teens in the Drivers Seat
Your son and/or daughter is being invited to take part in a research study being conducted by Teens in the Driver Seat, a peer-to-peer traffic safety program dedicated to ending the number one cause of teen death in America: car crashes. This program is under the Texas A&M Transportation Institute and funded by the Texas Department of Transportation. The information in this form is provided to help you decide whether or not they will take part. If you decide you do not want your son and/or daughter to participate, there will be no penalty to them, and they will not lose any benefits they normally would have.
Mr. Whitaker, Mr. Jeffries and Ms. Goodbread will be leading Teens in the Driver Seat. If you would prefer them not to participate in the survey which will take place during homeroom Wednesday, September 28th, 2022 – please click the link below to opt out. If you have more than one student, please choose the link that says submit another response when the first one is complete.
Parents, the information sheet linked below should answer any questions. If you have any additional questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Homecoming Parade Participation Sign-up
Please be sure that you do not park anywhere along the parade route for the safety of our parade participants. Bring your chairs and blankets to sit on, and bags to fill with candy that many of our parade participants will be tossing. For your safety, we ask that you do not run out in the road during our parade to get candy that may be left in the road.
For our handicap guests, we ask that you enter at the football stadium entrance and our volunteers will help direct you to the appropriate parking lot. We have shaded spots for you to view the parade as well.
The parade begins promptly at 6:00pm. Our campus gets crowded quickly as this is a much-anticipated event every year.
If you are in the parade, your point of contact will receive information the week before the parade!
We are looking forward to a fantastic RRHS Homecoming Parade. Go KNIGHTS!
