HILL HAPPENINGS
Hill Elementary School ~ December 14, 2014
Dear Hill Friends,
I enjoyed a wonderful weekend with family. Kaylee is home from college and Brennyn will be home tomorrow. We spent Saturday with family enjoying holiday activities, including visiting Wild Lights at the Detroit Zoo. Absolutely beautiful. Today, it's pj's and Christmas movies while doing some schoolwork!
As a staff, we just finished a very eventful week. I hope that all of you take the time you need to rest and take care of yourselves. The next week is going to be busy for certain. If you begin to feel stressed, just watch the video below and do what Jessica does!
Just a few friendly reminders as we prepare for Winter break shutdown. Please remember to clean out the refrigerator of any personal items by the end of the week. Additionally, any items that you have placed in the lounge for "free", take care of whatever is left before you leave on Friday. Lastly, be mindful of turning off technology, unplugging electrical items, shut your blinds, etc. to support the district's energy conservation guidelines.
Our next Hill Happenings will go out once we return from winter break. I hope that everyone has a restful and wonderful holiday break. Enjoy the time with family & friends.

Congratulations Heather Chewning! Her graduation from University of Michigan-Flint was on Saturday! Enjoy the moment. Heather will be finishing her student teaching experience in Jodi's room next Friday. After the new year, she will step in to Linda Strine's room as the overflow sub.
Congratulations to Bailey Goyette (& Andrew Sutherland) Bailey and Andrew are getting married on December 27th. Wishing you a beautiful day and a lifetime of happiness. Bailey has done an amazing job in Linda's room. Thank you Bailey.
A few of the GREAT things that I noticed last week...
It was a busy week across the District, with ACC, DIP, and ELA meetings after school. I'm so proud of our team and the professionalism that all of you display during these meetings. You represent our school in a positive way and your input is so valuable as we learn and grow together to benefit our students! Great work!
Miss Chewning turned in one positive office referral this week. The student was beaming when I made the parent phone call home! :) Thank you Heather!
Ranee started to send Cardinal Compliments home to students about a month ago as she recognized students following Cardinal Code or exhibiting random acts of kindness. She has extended this invite to Pat, Joe, Wanda, and Julie now as well. In the last month, the office staff has mailed approximately a dozen Cardinal Compliments. ALL of our staff members make a difference and this act makes me so very proud! Way to go!
The 3rd & 4th Grade holiday concert was absolutely beautiful. The students looked and sounded amazing. Lisa, your passion was obvious to all. Outstanding work!
PTO led our Santa's Workshop on Friday with nearly 10 crafters and more than 20 volunteers helping students shop and wrap their gifts.
First Grade students leading calendar activities. I love to see their leadership.
We have so many grandparent volunteers. I love seeing the many grandparents working with students on a regular basis.
