OCS WEEKLY UPDATE
Week of May 20, 2023
Dear Families,
We hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirits as we approach the end of the school year. We would like to take this opportunity to provide you with important information regarding the upcoming STAR testing for literacy and math, as well as updates on various end-of-year events and activities.
STAR Testing: As part of our ongoing commitment to assessing student progress, we will be conducting STAR testing for students in grades 1-6. The STAR tests are designed to evaluate students' proficiency in literacy and math, helping us gauge their academic growth throughout the school year. These assessments provide valuable insights into individual student needs and help inform our teaching strategies for the upcoming academic year.
We kindly request that you ensure your child arrives at school on time and well-rested during the testing days. By providing a calm and supportive environment at home, you can help your child perform at their best.
Also, with the school year coming to a close, we have several exciting events planned for our students. Here's a look at a few events that the students can look forward to:
Field Day: Our annual Field Day will take place on June 13th with a rain date of the 16th. Students will participate in various outdoor activities and games, fostering teamwork, sportsmanship, and fun! There will be a detailed notice and permission slip in the near future coming from the organizers. For your child to participate, the permission slip must be completed by the child's parent/guardian.
Field Trips: We have organized enriching field trips for different grade levels. Detailed information about each trip, including dates, destinations, and required permissions, will be provided in separate permission slips. We appreciate your prompt attention to these forms.
Moving On Ceremony: For our graduating students, we will be hosting a Moving On Ceremony to celebrate their accomplishments and bid them farewell as they move on to the next phase of their educational journey. The ceremony will be held on June 20th.
Please keep an eye out for additional notices, as there may be other end-of-year events or activities unique to your child's grade level. We encourage you to stay up to date by regularly checking our school's website and keeping an eye on communication channels such as newsletters, emails, and notices sent home with your child. Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child's teacher or the school office.
Thank you for your ongoing support and involvement in your child's education. We appreciate your partnership in creating a successful and memorable end to the school year. As always, if you need anything let us know. We will do our best to support you.
Warm regards,
Jessika Sheldrick, on behalf of the OCS Staff
