Library Learning Commons Update
CREC Academy of Science & Innovation November Newsletter
NOVEMBER IS NATIONAL FAMILY LITERACY MONTH!
November is the month in which we bring awareness to the importance of reading in the home. Children who are read to when very young tend to associate reading with fun and love. This month is a great time to start a new tradition of reading as a family. “By engaging multiple generations, learning is taken beyond the classroom and becomes part of families’ everyday lives,” says Emily Kirkpatrick, Vice President of the National Family for Family Literacy. “This leads to greater achievements and builds momentum for lifelong learning as it helps to develop real-world skills for people trying to better their lives and communities" (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/elianne-ramos/national-family-literacy-month_b_2066057.html).
