Welcome to the 2019-2020 School Year!
A Great Start To A Memorable Year
As the third week of the 2019-2020 school year comes to a close, we cannot help but notice the buzz that has been circulating. A new era of #trueNorth has created more opportunities for education, empowerment and excellence. Students are engaging in revamped future-ready learning experiences. Athletic teams are already thriving and fine art programs are motivated to be at their best. Teachers are collaborating to build strong and relevant academic experiences. And administrators are supporting students and staff on a daily basis, striving to build strong relationships within the NFHS Family.
This school year is an important one. It is a year of excitement and vision. It is a year of momentum and merit. We welcome you to the 2019-2020 school year: our best school year yet.

Counselor's Corner
- It's never too early to start planning on how to pay for college! Juniors and seniors, we suggest devoting some time to search for scholarships. And we are here to help. Let these search engines be your guide in beginning your scholarship search.
- FASFA, the method all colleges use to reward money for continuing education, opens Oct. 1 for seniors. To best prepare, parents and students should obtain a FSA ID. Directions in doing so can be found in the FSA ID How To image below. To help with the financial aid process, we will be hosting a Financial Aid Night on Oct.7 at 6 p.m. in the NFHS library.
- Don't forget that the PSAT is Wednesday, Oct. 30. To register, please follow the Google Form link that will become available on our school website from Monday, Sept. 9 to Monday, Oct. 7. Please complete the form in its entirety, and note that registration will not be completed until Ms. Smith has received the test payment in full. We ask that students bring the $20 payment in cash (we do not accept credit cards or checks) to Ms. Smith.

Additionally, advisory teachers check-in with students to encourage success academically, socially and emotionally. A typical week in advisory looks like the following:

#trueNorth Pillars at Work
#excellence
Our classroom environments help students stay accountable by posting student-made social contracts. Ms. Sharp makes sure that the contracts in her classroom pop with color!
#empower
Our Practicum courses provide real-world experiences and professional trainings. This week, the ATS Practicum got one of these hands-on experiences from Dallas Ortho and Baylor Scott & White Dallas-Forth Worth.
#educate
Our teachers are dedicated to ensuring our students feel comfortable and prepared every time they enter the classroom. Ms. Logan enjoys greeting her students at the front door with a review question to start the day!
