Bonsall Bear News
Week of 1/17-1/21
Principal's Message
Dear BES families,
As we continue to work through a surge in Covid-19 cases both in students and staff, your efforts in helping us to remain safe are valued and appreciated. If your child exhibits ANY symptoms as stated on the Covid-19 Decision Tree (see the updated version linked in below) please keep them home. The Covid-19 Decision Tree has changed a lot in the last week. Our staff appreciates your flexibility and grace as we navigate through the different options regarding quarantine for both illness and close contact.
Speaking of health...
Please click HERE to see the most recent Health and Safety from Mr. Clevenger which includes information regarding the student social/emotional Panorama survey.
The district is aware that the recent increase in cases locally and around the country is causing concern. I want to assure you that our on-campus safety protocols, including the wearing of masks indoors, have been extremely effective in limiting the spread of COVID-19 at our school. Case rates have typically gone down once students return to school following holiday breaks due to the consistency of health protocols. These measures will continue to be in place upon our return to keep our students and staff healthy. Please keep your child(ren) at home if they exhibit any of the symptoms stated HERE (as of January 5, 2022) on the Covid-19 Decision Tree. Here is a link to the COVID-19 Decision Trees for K-12 Schools Frequently Asked Questions. If you have any questions regarding the health of your student, please contact Brittany Wanzer or call 760-631-5205.
If you are not receiving emails via Parent Square regarding positive Covid-19 cases on our campus, please double check your settings. If you are still unsure, you can reach out to our attendance clerk Sandra Esparza for support. Any and all attendance questions and concerns should also be addressed to Ms. Esparza.

IMPORTANT SAFETY REMINDER 1/14/22
It is extremely important to adhere to all traffic rules while in a school zone and on school campus, particularly during drop off and pick up. We have over 850 students on our campus. One extra mile over the speed limit or dropping off your student in a zone that is not marked for student drop off is a potential problem. As the principal, student safety is of utmost importance. Please be courteous and cautious as you drive through our school parking lots.
*There is no supervision prior to 7:30 a.m. PLEASE DO NOT DROP YOUR CHILD OFF PRIOR TO 7:30 a.m. Safety is of the utmost priority at BES and students being left unattended in front of the school is unsafe.
*Lost and found items will be available in front of the school every Friday morning and afternoon.
*Please be sure to call in your student's absences each day with the reason for the absence.
*You MUST have an ID in order for the office to release your student to you or whomever is picking them up. That person must also be on Aeries as an emergency contact. I know that this has not been past practice, but safety is at the forefront of our school community. We have a new office staff that is not familiar with every face associated to each student. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
*Please note, you may not take videos or pictures of any child that is not yours. This includes video taping your child on the kindergarten playground before school. Please be mindful and respectful of other people's children.
*The kindergarten gate closes at 7:55 a.m. If you arrive to the kinder gate after that time, you are required to drop your child off at the front of the school and they will enter through the office. Thank you for your cooperation.
Every Thursday is early release day. The kindergarten students will be released at 12:50 and grades 1-5 will be released at 1:00.
We have a no animal policy on campus. As cute as they are, please do not walk your dog on campus to drop off or pick up your child. This protects the students, the staff and you.

Health - Student pool testing and on site testing consent
We now have the capability to test students on site with verbal and/or written consent. If your child is considered a close contact or sent to the office for not feeling well, we will call and ask for your consent to give your child a rapid test on site.
Dear parents, caregivers, and guardians,
We greatly appreciate your continued partnership during this unprecedented school year. As we shared in our previous correspondence in our continued efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19, we have been working closely with the California Department of Public Health and Concentric by Ginko to implement a free COVID-19 pooled testing program for students and staff at our school.
As we shared before, your permission is essential in order for your child to participate in the pooled testing program at our school. Please take a moment to log on to the link provided below to start the process:
http://testcenter.concentricbyginkgo.com//minor-consent
Once you log on, please enter the access code. For Bonsall Elementary School the access code is: GEL5GO
Thank you for all your support, patience and partnership as we navigate through this school year. It takes all of us working together to contain the spread of this virus while maintaining our commitment to providing exceptional educational services for students.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.
