2nd Grade News
November 11-15
Quick Notes
- We will take our first field trip on Monday, November 18. Your child should wear their OCT camo t-shirt, comfortable shoes, and a jacket if needed. Please send a completely disposable sack lunch with your child's name on it.
- Please initial your child's CR chart (in their binder) and their reading log every night.
- Don't forget to label cool weather items!
- Please continue to send healthy snacks (that are not messy/sticky/gooey) and refillable water bottles each day.
Important Dates
- Monday, November 11- Veteran's Day. Everyone is invited to celebrate our veterans by wearing red, white, and blue. Join us for a beautiful program presented by our 3rd and 4th graders beginning at 8:30 am in the cafeteria. Weekly Learning Objectives
Reading- As we read we will pay attention to details, ask questions, make predictions, and make connections to the story.
FunDations (phonics study)- We will learn about vowel teams ee, ea, ey, oi, and oy.
Please Remember- read with your child for 20 minutes each evening. Your child only needs one or two sticky notes per evening. Your child can write their thoughts, questions, or words they find interesting on their sticky notes. We are doing a great job with our reading with reading logs. Please remind your child to fill it in each evening and please initial it. Please help your child remember to place their folder with their reading log and book back in their backpack. Thanks!
Social Studies- We will learn about Veteran's Day and why it is important.
Writing- We will research and write about animals.
Science- We will learn about the basic needs of living things.
Math- We will tell time to the nearest 5 minutes on analog and digital clocks.
Quick Idea- Practice telling time with your child. Continue practicing those basic math facts.
