School Counseling Support
We realize that many of your students are having struggles in relation to this pandemic, learning online, missing social connections, as well as missing out on important activities. Below are some COVID Mental Health Tips that you may find useful. Please share these with our child if you feel it may be helpful. You may always reach out to me as well. I am available each day to do google meets with students and/or parents. ~Keli Niegemann, Counselor
Our district now has recently filled our Family Liaison position. The Student Support Advocate assists families in need of food, housing, health care (both behavioral and physical health), clothing, utilities, and other family needs. For Port Susan Middle School, Azra Grudic works with our families. You can contact her at 360.403.3653 (direct line) or 360.965.8875 (cell).
Inclement Weather/Power Outages (More Information/Clarification)
Even if Google Meets are not able to happen because of a power outage, the day will still count as a school day as long as students have assignments available and weekly drop dates and due dates will continue. During distance learning, we will count school days because work is available for students.
If the length of the power outage lasts multiple days in a small area, we ask that students contact their teacher &/or the school so we can excuse the attendance to allow more time to complete work. This would be an excused absence for students in that small area only and the remaining students would continue to attend.
