The NEW & IMPROVED Refrigerator
The cooler way to store your wholesome goods!
Live in the lap of luxury!
Not many people back in the 1920's had refrigerator's due to the highly price for them. Before the invention of the refrigerator's people used Ice boxes. They were less effective than modern refrigerators or refrigerators in the 1920's. The Ice boxes were replaced with ice everyday or so by an "ice man".
Keep your drinks cool, calm, and collected; just like this fine fellow!
If any character in The Great Gatsby would find the refrigerator useful, it would be...
Tom Buchanan. Tom would find it useful because he is a very heavy drinker, which we can infer because alcohol is obviously his preferred drink. A refrigerator would be helpful in keeping his many beverages cool for him to drink. (Also, it would help to keep cool the heated personality of his character. ;-))
Keep it cool in those hot summer months!
The "bureau drawer" is such a primitive tool, but with the refrigerator, your alcohol will remain cold even in the hottest of months! Think of how happy your guests will be!
"Meanwhile, Tom brought out a bottle of whiskey from a locked bureau drawer." (pg. 29)
Show off your wealth!
The refrigerator would a great tool for any occasion! Think of all that expensive food you could preserve! The refrigerator will save you money, and food!
Gatsby's Party (ch. 2)
The drinking man's companion!
Are you a heavy drinker? Is your name Tom Buchanan? If you answered yes to either of those questions, the refrigerator would be PERFECT for you!
"I'll get some whiskey," answered Tom. He went inside. (pg. 120)
