So what is S.A.M.R.?

Technology Enhances Learning:

Substitution = Tech acts as a direct tool substitute, with no functional change

Augmentation = Tech acts as a direct tool substitute, with functional improvement.

Technology Transforms Learning:

Modification = Tech allows for significant task redesign.

Redefinition = Tech allows for the creation of new tasks, previously inconceivable.

What does SAMR look like?


Look at the six SAMR models below. With a partner discuss:

  • What do you SEE?
  • What do you THINK about them?
  • What does it make you WONDER?

Explore SAMR more deeply.

Look at least one of the SAMR Resources provided below. When you think you are starting to get a grasp on SAMR, you can check your knowledge with the online quiz. Click on the button at the bottom at the page "Check Your SAMR Knowledge"

Create a Pic Collage poster.

Include a task that you could conceivably do in your classroom at each of the SAMR levels.

You can collaborate with a partner, or work on your own.
