Senior Meetings February 3 & 4

Seniors, Check your email or ParentSquare notice on February 2nd to join the Google Classroom Class of 2021! We will also be sharing the Meet link with you to join us on February 3 or 4 - during the second hour of your social science class.

When is Graduation this year?

As you know, the pandemic has forced us to be creative in how we celebrate. We promise that seniors will be celebrated! Plans and festivities depend on where we are in June. LMUSD relies upon the Health Department to approve our functions that include large gatherings. This is one of the discussion topics with our seniors this week. As soon as we have a specific plan in place it will be shared with our seniors, their families and our community. Thank you for your continued patience as we all navigate these unchartered times.

Continued this Week! Scheduling Talks for Juniors with their Counselor

Juniors!

In the next few days, you will be meeting with your school counselor via Google Meet during your English class (see below for the schedule). Further scheduling items will be emailed to you through parent square. It is very important that you attend your sessions with your school counselor and that you complete all the steps that will be given to you in order to finalize your 2021-2022 schedule.

Additionally, we will be mailing you the following items:
  • Transcript (it documents all your semester final grades)
  • High School Graduation Status (keeps track of what credits you completed and still need)
  • CSU Eligibility Report (keeps track of your A-G 4 year college preparatory requirements)
PLEASE make sure that you do not throw these away. You will need all these items when you meet with your counselor.

If you have any questions, you may contact a counseling secretary at (805) 474-3200 ext. 2030 or at 2031. You can also email them at christina.wagner@lmusd.org or at nancy.gonzalez@lmusd.org .

Reopening Schools Update

In case you missed it, we wanted to make sure you saw that the California Department of Public Health released its new guidance for schools planning to reopen for in-person instruction, as well as a COVID-19 School Guidance Checklist. The good news is that our current plan already incorporates most of the requirements. The level of detail and guidance included this new release is encouraging.

Our county’s case rates still remain well beyond the threshold limit of 25/100,000 required for reopening. Please keep in mind that our current board adopted reopening criteria requires our county to remain in the red tier for two weeks.

The new guidance affects all schools, which are required to post a compliant COVID-19 Safety Plan prior to reopening. Schools that are already open must post their COVID-19 Safety Plan by February 1. Reopened is defined as having at least an entire grade span on campus for in-person instruction. We have robust learning pods but not entire grade spans so we are not considered to be reopened.

A more detailed update will be provided during Tuesday’s school board meeting. We will share the meeting materials with you via email when they are available.
