Staff Bulletin
From the Rutgers School of Social Work Staff Council
Enjoy a Sneak Peak!
Welcome to the first edition of the SSW Staff Bulletin. We are writing you from eight unique remote locations across the state straight to your kitchen tables, shared offices, basements, and every other crafty remote work set up everyone has created for themselves over the past 10 months.
As we return in the new year, keep an eye out for additional communications from us. This bulletin will be a monthly email released by the Staff Council to provide you with SSW updates, helpful administrative information, tips/tricks/processes, and a topic of the month.
This spring, we will also be partnering with Associate Dean Sharon Fortin to hold an All Staff Meeting and have already started to review existing processes and participate in the Dean's Advisory Council meetings. Our goal is to be your voice and create a unified SSW Staff Community- one that is supportive, efficient, and provides many opportunities.
Since this is our first communication we wanted to take the opportunity to re-introduce ourselves, send our appreciation for all of you, and share wishes of health, safety, and happiness this winter season!

During the break and upcoming Holiday season I am hoping to reduce my screen time, finally chase my cat around the house, and read a couple books. Looking forward to seeing you all in 2021!
Nicole Oceanak, Vice Chair
Nicole is looking forward to trying new cookie recipes over the break and spend time teaching her puppy, Cooper, new tricks.

I am a proud alumnus of Rutgers (BA Psychology). I began working with the SSW family in 2009 and have the pleasure of working with various departments. I provide support to Field Education, BASW, Faculty/PTLs, MSW Student Affairs, assist with event planning on the Camden campus, and support various entities. I am honored to represent and advocate for everyone and believe having a diverse experience will help me serve as a well-rounded representative. My experience will help to advocate the needs of our Staff, sustain and foster open communication with the Dean’s office, and take part in making a satisfying work environment within our diverse population on all three campuses.
I plan to relax and spend quality time with my family and look forward to baking some delicious cookies! I'd like to catch up on some TV and watch the latest season of The Crown and watch one of my favorite movies, especially this time of year, Love Actually. Have a wonderful break and Happy Holidays!

I live in Plainfield, NJ, with Jon-Eric, my husband, and Biggie, our small-but-mighty Maltese. During this one-of-a-kind holiday season, I'm going to try to make the best of social distancing by building projects in my woodworking shop (my basement), reading, resting, and binge-watching a show or two.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve on the SSW’s inaugural Staff Council! I look forward to bringing my experience from work on the SSW’s development and communications teams, and Master's studies in strategic organizational communication and corporate purpose and social impact to best serve my fellow council members and our staff community. During the break I hope to get back on track practicing my music and feed my passion for cooking and baking by making some bread (I have plenty of sourdough starter if anyone is interested!) and challenging myself with cheese making (not sure what I'm getting myself in to). Look forward to working with all of you in 2021!
