3rd Grade Visits Pompeii

3rd grade had an amazing time exploring the Franklin Institute on Thursday. They enjoyed seeing artifacts from the ancient city of Pompeii, viewing the IMAX movie, Ring of Fire, which was about the world's 400 active volcanos, and interacting with many exhibits located throughout the museum. As one student in 3rd grade said, "Going to the Franklin Institute was fun because we saw and did a lot of interesting things like going in the IMAX with the big screen and visiting Space Command because we could build and test out space vehicles on a rocky surface. It was the best field trip ever!"

Kids Care Club - Helping Sick Children and Their Families

This month the Kids Care club is focusing on sick children. The Club will work with two organizations - Kelly Anne Dolan Memorial Fund which provides support to families struggling with serious childhood illnesses and St. Christopher's Children's Hospital.

Gayman will be holding a "hat day" fundraiser on Friday, March 14th for the Dolan Memorial Fund. A large loose change collection bottle will be placed outside the office for any loose coins that Gayman families or students may wish to contribute.

In support of St. Christopher's Children's Hospital the Kids Care Club is collecting new rattles for babies, new Matchbox cars and new or used movie DVD's. A donation box will be outside the office from March 10th - March 21st.

Great Teeth In Kindergarten

Kindergarten students participated in a dental health lesson with Dr. Jeff Mercando, local dentist and Gayman parent. The children have been learning about how to care for their teeth during the month of February. Dr. Jeff taught the classes about how cavities form, showed some interesting x-rays, explained why we should floss, and even modeled proper brushing technique. Dr. Jeff brought along his monkey puppet "Wisdom" who helped with the lesson. Thanks Dr. Jeff and Wisdom for a wonderful learning opportunity!
