Director Notes

It's our last week. Mom's you did it! Give thanks to God for helping us every single step of the way this year!

"Nothing you do for children is ever wasted. They seem not to notice us, hovering, averting our eyes, and they seldom offer thanks, but what we do for them is never wasted". Garrison Keillor

"A happy family is an earlier heaven". George Bernard Shaw

For Week 24:

Keep practicing Exodus at home as well as the specific memory work your kids will be presenting.

We will meet in the Fellowship hall for opening ceremonies and then we will all walk to the sanctuary together to practice. We are not allowed on the alter at all. We will do the ceremony right in front of the alter. I will remind us all on Tuesday to stay away from the alter.

I need a couple of moms to help set up for the potluck around 11:30. We will keep lunch at 12:00.

Field Trip

TCC Symphony Signature Orchestra Rehearsal

Thursday, April 14th, 6:30-8pm

10300 East 81st Street

Tulsa, OK

The Signature Symphony at Tulsa Community College at 81st Street and Hwy 169 is holding an open rehearsal on Thursday evening, April 14th. During the first half-hour, the conductor and guest artists will talk to the audience then we can stay and watch the rehearsal for the next hour. The conductor will continue to talk to us and give us more information during that hour. And, it's FREE!

Week 24

The last week of school is Community Spirit Week. If you have CC shirts wear them that day. I would like to do something as a community to bless the church. I was thinking that families could make a donation of paper goods such as toilet paper, paper towels, or trash bags. I am sure cash gifts would also be appreciated. They have been such a blessing to us these last three years I would like for us to bless them in return. We could present them with these things on week 24.

We will also have a potluck lunch that day. Let's try to bring food related to the Cycle (African, Middle - Eastern, Mexican, Canadian, South American)

Tutors and Subs (Our campus needs one possibly two more tutors)

I ask each one of you to pray about whether God is calling you to tutor or be a substitute tutor this coming year. Each one of you has amazing talents and gifts that can serve our community. I anticipate that we will add possibly two classes this coming year. So please take some time to prayerfully consider being a tutor or sub.

Closing Ceremonies

Our Closing Ceremonies will be on Monday, April the 18th at 6:15 at the Church. Plan to arrive at 6:00 so we can have everyone ready on time. This is a time for our students to show off what they have learned to their family and friends. Each class will choose a piece of memory work to demonstrate (The tutors will be getting you details soon about what their class will be doing). I would like us to sing the Exodus song together so please have your students practice this at home. The Essentials students will also be showcasing what they have learned. Plan 6:15 to 7:30 for the ceremony and from 7:30 to 8:30 for refreshments. Last year everyone signed up to bring an appetizer or dessert. If you have any other ideas let me know. Invite grandparents, aunts/uncles, cousins, and friends!

Year End Party

Our year end party will be Tuesday, April 12th at 10:00 am at Mrs. Robinson's house. This will be a day of fun and play! We are going to rent an inflatable for the kids to jump in and have a potluck lunch.

See Mrs. Robinson or Mrs. Maier for a list of what to bring for lunch.

Year Book Committee

If you want a yearbook made please let me know. We haven't had anyone come forward yet to volunteer to make a simple yearbook online.

Open Houses and Informational Meetings

The second semester is upon us and that means it is time for Open Houses and Informational Meetings. What better time to invite your friends to come and see what you have been talking about.

Our next Open House is Tuesday, April 5th from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm.

We will have an Information Meeting from 10:30 to 11:30 am. I highly encourage visitors to stay for the Information Meeting so they can understand the "why" behind what they observe that morning. If they just attend the Open House and do not go to an Information Meeting then they may not understand the philosophy of Classical Education and Classical Conversations. Also let them know they can bring lunch and eat with us that day.

Children are welcome at the Open House! I will have enough art and science supplies ready. If you have friends that are planning to attend the Open House please let me know how many children to prepare for. I don't want to run out of Art Supplies for them.
