Just a reminder that all parents MUST wear a mask and sign in at the office. (even if it is just for a minute). There is a table at the front door with disposable masks and hand sanitizer.
Also, if calling or emailing to excuse your child, please let us know if the illness is related to respiratory symptoms. Thank you for your cooperation as we move forward through this new process.
If you have requested homework, it will be placed on the table by the front door.
MSS Parent Portal - IMPORTANT!!!

If you have not, please do so before progress reports are available online. If you have forgotten your username please contact Mrs. Wandler; if you have forgotten your password please enter this temporary password Parent#1 (you will be prompted to change the password once you have logged in).
NOTE: You MUST create the account on a COMPUTER (not a mobile device or tablet). If you need to use a school computer to do this, please contact the school.

Progress Reports/Student Led Conferences
Progress reports (report cards) will be available ONLINE Tuesday, November 17. The reports are an indicator of how your child is doing at school; however the student-led conferences are more about how your child learns at school.
Student Led Conferences will be Wednesday, November 25 and Thursday, November 26. We will once again book conference times online with School Interviews starting Tuesday, November 17 and ending at 9:00am Wednesday, November 25. An email will be sent with information on how to book your time closer to the date.
Teachers will be emailing parents with more information regarding the Zoom process for SLC's.

Remembrance Day Service
This year our grade 7 classes are responsible for the service with assistance from Mrs. Feeley and Mr. Lothian. The service will be on Tuesday, November 10 at 11:00.
The service this year will look a little different. It will take place in the gym attended by only those presenting. All other students and staff will be in classrooms and it will be Zoomed for everyone to participate.
Phone Calls and Messages
To help eliminate distractions during instruction time we are asking parents to please leave a message for their child(ren) . All messages will be delivered to the classrooms and the students can return the calls during recesses and noon hour. In case of emergency we will put the caller directly to the student.
Morning recess is:
Grade 5/6 - 10:02 - 10:17
Grade 7/8 - 10:34 - 10:48
Afternoon recess is:
Grade 5/6 - 1:42 - 1:57
Grade 7/8 - 2:13 - 2:28
Also, please call the school to excuse any absenteeism. Your co-operation is greatly appreciated.
Electronic Devices
Students are asked to leave their valuables at home. If they are lost or stolen at school, we will not be held responsible. All personal electronic devices and cell phones are not allowed to be used during the school day (unless permission is given by a teacher).
We promote the development of social skills through good old-fashioned communication. Talking and playing physical games is encouraged during recesses and noon hour.
Nut Awareness Policy
Locked Door Policy

Annual Terry Fox Run at AES
This year celebrated the 40th anniversary of the Terry Fox Run. Our run had a very different look to it this year due to COVID.
We started off in a Zoom meeting with the whole school. It was a lot of fun to be able to wave at and see faces we do not get to see each day. We had Terry Fox Trivia which the staff and students did really well at! There was a buzz down the hallways as classes were figuring out answers and putting them into the chat. We viewed a documentary on the Life of Terry Fox and then each cohort participated in their own run at sometime during the day.
All in all, we were able to raise $1077.80. A huge thank you to the families, staff and students who brought donations or made donations online. YOU ROCK!!!

Student Vote
Once again our students took part in the provincial election through Student Vote. Students learned about democracy and the Rights and responsibilities of Canadians. They researched the Parties’ platforms and voted based on their research. Our school is in the Wood River Constituency and had three candidates to choose from:
Kimberly Soo Goodtrack – Saskatchewan Green Party
David Marit – Saskatchewan Party
Roger Morgan – New Democratic Party
Students voted on October 22nd and the results are as follows:
Kimberly Soo Goodtrack — Saskatchewan Green Party = 14
David Marit — Saskatchewan Party = 105
Roger Morgan — New Democratic Party = 38
Total number of valid ballots = 157
