Nokomis Montessori South Students and Families,
The beautiful colors of fall are officially in full swing, which means that October is here! Puppy and I love wearing our sweatshirts during this gorgeous cool weather.
The school counseling department have been delivering lessons on a bi-weekly basis. Some of the key focuses have been on getting to know one another, making connections with our classmates, and the zones of regulation. During the month of October, we will continue to look at how we learn best in and out of school. I have also met with all fifth graders to reflect on their time here at Nokomis South and also to set a goal for the year before they transition off to middle school next year.
Extended Day Learning (EDL) is back! Students at Nokomis South who are in Grades 2-5 can participate with a focus on reading, writing, math, and a special opportunity to learn Hmong. Students in grades 4 and 5 will also have the opportunity to participate in Lego League and Music. The Nokomis South EDL program will be on Mondays and Wednesdays.
The BRAND-NEW time will be from 7:45 AM-9:15 AM and a breakfast snack will be provided.
Unfortunately, school bus transportation will once again be unavailable, so students will need to find another form of transportation to school.
You can find more information below.
You can also contact me at my email: kyle.johnson3@spps.org, call me at my office phone number: 651-744-5318 or you can also fill out the Parent Referral as well.
Thank you and have a great month of October,
Mr. Kyle Johnson
