Hampton Bays Middle School
Parent Express Bulletin #32
So How Was School Today? [Part 2]
Dear Hampton Bays Middle School Families,
I hope this memo finds our HBMS Families having enjoyed a relaxing Spring Recess. Towards the end of this month, we will welcome the families of our newest middle school students, our incoming fifth graders!
In a previous PEX Bulletin, I shared an article that helps us to stay connected with our kids by asking the right questions. The article is called 25 Ways to Ask, Your Kids ' So How Was School Today" Without Asking Them 'So How Was School Today?'
Well, this month, I am extending a challenge to our HBMS Families. I am asking that you consider ANSWERING 20 questions, which will help us with our PTO event on May 19.
Here's how you can help, in the next three weeks!
THE GOOGLE FORM
If you're a Google user, please click the image below (The HBMS 20 Question Challenge). Along with your child, I invite you to ask/answer any and all of the questions included in the survey. I will go through the answers provided, and we may share some of these as part of our presentation to parents on May 19. (Warning: A positive side-effect will be you learning more about your son's/daughter's school experience. They may find your questions incredibly annoying at times, but the answers will draw you closer together.)
OR
THE PADLET
If you'd prefer to take these questions one day at a time, please see the HBMS 20 Question Challenge Smore link, which will bring you to Padlet. If you don't know, Padlet is a simple tool that our students sometimes use in school. (Just keep in mind, it's more public, so be careful about not using specific names of people in our school in the Padlet.) I will be monitoring these in the coming weeks as we develop our presentation for parents. And...I am going to attempt the challenge at home as well. I'll be asking my sixth grade son these questions...while we drive together in the car.
Thanks for helping out with this, and if you have questions or specific feedback for me, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.
Thanks, as always, for the important role you play in our home-school partnership.
Sincerely,
Dennis
