Nuts & Bolts

Happy Tax Day

It was a perfect spring weekend so far. I hope you all got out and about. From my perspective, this first week back after spring break was pretty tame, knock on wood. I believe that is because you all jumped back into meaningful work and routines right away, for which I appreciate and thank you.

Thank you for engaging in our staff meeting Monday. I appreciate very much how you were both vulnerable and worthy of your colleagues' vulnerability. I have included follow-up resources as well as your collective feedback results below. I enjoyed the conversations many of you had with me that were related to Monday's meeting.

Thank you for being so accommodating during this "tour season." Potential and new parents to our school are amazed at what they see happening in your classrooms and fall in love with our Montessori philosophy immediately. Keep up the great work!

RISE and Aspire Plus testing begins this week. I'm sure there will be some bumps in the road this first time implementing the assessments on a new platform; and I am confident that we will work everything out and the experience be overall smooth.

Have a productive and positive week,

René

G&C Challenge - Speaking in a Low Voice

I frequently hear that there is a lack of grace and courtesy in our building. Most recently, this was discussed at our advisory meeting. There were several reasons brought up that could be causing this phenomena. I would like us to try to address this by recognizing grace and courtesy when we see it happening.

Thank you for practicing and recognizing G&C when excusing themselves with grace and courtesy.

This week I would like to pose a challenge for you to recognize students, families, and colleagues who speak in a low voice.

Staff Kid Registration for 19-20

If you received an email from MMA asking you to complete online paperwork to register your child in MMA for the 19-20 school year - please complete that ASAP.

Student Council Revamp

Student council in 19-20 will no longer just include junior high students, not be a class in junior high, and will again include upper elementary students. We are seeking one upper elementary teacher and one junior high teacher to lead student council, who will meet at lunch and/or after school. The purpose behind student council will be for these students on different planes of development to work together to represent their peers, communicate with adults at MMA their thoughts on how to make MMA the best it can be. More information regarding student elections is coming soon. If you would like to step up to sponsor student council or would like more information about this role, please talk to René or Lana.

Coach's Request

In order for Nicoletta to improve in her position as an Instructional Coach, she is seeking your feedback by the end of April. Please take the time to fill out the survey - https://forms.gle/ko5pCnGG8vzAQr72A.

End of Year Pool Party

We switched up the date for the annual pool party and you're invited! You are highly encouraged, although not required, to attend the pool party that will happen this summer. We heard your feedback about the cons of having the pool party as a kick-off to the school year. Now, the purpose of the pool party is to kick-off the summer, where new families to MMA can meet and connect with existing families and hopefully teachers as well. Hope to see you there!

Save the Date - Staff Party

The end of year staff party will be at my house again on Saturday, May 18th beginning at 4pm. Families are invited and you can show up anytime after 4pm. My husband will cook some sort of delicious protein and you are invited to bring a side dish to share. You are welcome to stay as long as you like, as long as you don't end up on my sofa in the morning. More details and pretty invite to come . . .

From our Friends in HR

Please note, employees will need to re-register in order to setup their new account through the following site: https://tools.helpside.com/IdentificationRequired/. Employees are welcome to contact Helpside directly at (800) 748-5102 for any questions or logging in. Helpside has setup a customer service team that will help employees navigate the new employee portal. Let us know if you have questions.

We are excited to announce the release of our new Helpside Employee Portal, which will replace the existing ESS Portal on our website.

This new employee portal will give employees easy access to the information that is most important to them such as paycheck stubs, benefits information, and annual pay summaries. It will also allow employees to make updates to their personal information online, such as their address, phone number, W-4 tax withholding, direct deposit account, and email address.

All employees will need to re-register for the new Helpside Employee Portal the first time they visit. To do this, employees will simply need to enter some basic information and then a registration link will be sent to them via email. Clicking on the registration link will allow employees to choose a username and password and get started using the new portal right away.
