Dear Parents,
Here's what's happening at school this week.
Band Showcase
Students and their families are also welcome to attend the Middle and High School portion of the concert, which starts at 7:00, and features a post-concert reception with musical entertainment provided by our own Charlevoix Jazz Band.
NWEA Testing
Tuesday: Garver ELA, Hopkins Math
Wednesday: Garver Math, Pott ELA
Thursday, Pott Math, Hopkins ELA
English
We will be taking the NWEA test this week Tuesday-Thursday.
We will continue our research project in conjunction with the Charlevoix Historical Society. The students have been using newspapers and AncestryK12 to help the historical society learn more about people and places in Charlevoix history.
Enrichment Writing
Math
Last week, students focused on learning geometry concepts from chapter 11. They also worked on finding the volume and surface area of a cylinder. There is no homework due on Monday. If students didn't finish last week's classroom assignments, they will have an opportunity to finish them in class. This week, students will continue to focus on geometry concepts in chapter 11. They also have the NWEA test for math. Once again, we will not be having chapter assessments until after all MSTEP and NWEA testing is finished.
Enrichment Math
Students will continue to work on skills that will be primarily taught in 7th grade/8th grade to help give them extra practice for next year. Last week, they practiced the distance formula. Students also worked on understanding scientific notation. They had the chance to learn about supplementary angles as well.
Social Studies
Science
We will continue to work on various ways objects can travel through a rocket copter challenge. Hopefully we will have weather that cooperates with us. Thank you to all that sent snacks/paper products in for The Dune Grass Field Trip. Thank you also to the parents that showed up and helped us meet our goal.
