Spotlight on Our Core Values
Mrs. Dawn Rivell exemplifies all of the core values of Taylor ISD. Dawn is the first teacher in line to try something cutting-edge and exciting for her students to learn in new and unique ways. She has a genuine passion for her profession and is always thinking of ways to excel in her craft. 10 tech skills every educator must have in 2015
Here are the skills they list to run a successful 21st century classroom.
- Acing Productivity Applications- beyond basic skills in such applications as Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Docs, Sheets, or Slides
- Mastering Search, Research and Internet Literacy- conduct effective targeted search strategies, information literacy skills
- Connecting Through Social Media- using Twitter, Pinterest, Google+, and various blogs to collect resources and share with others
- Troubleshooting Your Own Tech- handling basic troubleshooting on devices you manage
- Finding and Sharing Files- sharing files online, in Google Drive, on blogs, etc
- Embracing Curiosity- offering fresh perspectives, willing to try new things with students, continuing to be a student
- Capturing Attention with Video- taking advantage of online videos, screencasting, flipped classroom techniques, etc
- Juggling Multiple Display Devices- handling devices such as laptops, iPads, projectors, document cameras,, digital cameras, as well as tools to wirelessly display
- Perfecting Presentations- use a variety of presentation tools, not just limited to Powerpoint and Slides, turning data into easy to understand graphical representations
- Managing Learning and Students- using online management systems such as Edmodo, Schoology, Project Share, Google Classroom, etc with students

Great Chrome Web Store Apps
There are many great apps you can use along with the Chrome browser. Here are few that are either new or you may have missed.
- iStation- You can now install iStation and launch it through the App Launcher
- Read & Write for Google- allows text to speech from most websites
- QR Code Generator Pro- create a QR code easily to point to text, audio, links, etc
Install these apps by doing the following:
- Visit the store directly here. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/category/apps
- Search for a tool. (ex. We Video)
- Click the Free button to install.
