CPS Teachers Make A Difference
Week Ending May 20, 2016
Monday 8:20 - 10:00AM
Tuesday - No Orlove
Wednesday - 8:20 - 9:45 and 10:45 - 3:20
Thursday - ALL DAY - performance starts at 6:20. (doors open at 5:45) All teachers need to be at the school by 5:30.
When we are not rehearsing, we will follow our regular schedule. Please make sure the students are engaged in a lesson instead of independent assignments. They seem to be missing their structure and unraveling. This may be a good time to bring out the Scholastics and pick an activity. You may also bring them to the gym to play basketball or walk the track for 20 minutes. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

School will be closed Friday, May 27 - Monday, May 30th and will resume on Tuesday, May 31st.
After the 4 day break we will go directly into end of term presentation (aka final) mode. Please see below for criteria. During the first week students will prepare and the second week will present.
On the second week, you will be expected to remain at school during your regular working hours to help supervise students preparing for their next presentation and also to pack up your classroom. Please gather all of the student's work to send home. We will need to make copies of student writing samples, which were exemplary. We would like to have the school packed up by June 7th. Feel free to put the students to work when they are not preparing.
Recommendation letters. Please send me your recommendation letters (make sure to include anecdotes) for our 10th - 12th graders. Much appreciated.

End of Term Presenation Criteria
End of term presentation grading and attendance
The first stage of the end of term presentation is to review the material covered from the beginning of this semester. The teacher then divides up the material and assigns each student a section to reteach during presentation week.
Presentations must include:
A written paper of approx. 2 pages typed, double-spaced in 12 point font, handed to the teacher. This MUST be a hard copy. Teacher will determine criteria for paper. Middle school students may do 1 page.
Presentation of approx. 8-10 minutes to reteach. Presentation must include a visual and a participatory activity.
Students will keep a journal prepared by the teacher for each class. After each presentation, the student will write down the main idea of the lesson taught. Criteria for questions to answer will be determined and provided by the teacher.
If a student misses a presentation of another student, the student will research and write a one page overview for each presentation missed. This will be due by the next school day, following presentation week.
If a student misses their own presentation, the student will film the presentation outside of school and upload onto youtube or vimeo by Thursday, June 9th at noon.
