What Is Obesity?
Abnormal or excessive fat accumulation that may impair health
The WHO definition is:
- a BMI greater than or equal to 25 is overweight
- a BMI greater than or equal to 30 is obesity
Why Obesity is a Problem?
Lack of exercise
People are lazy and have no motivation to exercise: it is easy to be a couch potato.
Healthy food is expensive
Unhealthy foods like candy, donuts, and McDonalds are cheap. Healthy foods like fruits and vegetables are expensive.
Genetics/ Parents
If parents are overweight, the children are destine to be. If the parents keep feeding their kids unhealthy/large amounts of food, the kid will never learn to stop eating.
