Hello Lakeside Parents and Guardians,

School Carnival: Our Annual Spring Carnival is tonight, Friday March 8th, from 6:00-8:00pm. Tickets will be sold at the door and can be exchanged for activities and food at the event. We hope to see you all there!!

3rd Grade Parents: All 3rd-grade students will be taking the IREAD-3 assessment beginning Monday, March 11. It is extremely important for students to be present and on time during this test window as well. Due to Spring Break beginning the following week, the assessment must be completed by the end of the week. If a student unfortunately fails or misses all or a part of the IREAD-3 assessment, he/she will automatically have to be enrolled in the summer program and take the assessment at that time. Please know we are continuing to work very hard to support each student with the skills necessary to pass IREAD-3 and wish every student the very best on the upcoming assessment.

Spring Intersession: At the completion of next week, school is not in session for two weeks. Students will return to school on Monday, April 1.

Any item not claimed by the end of the year will be donated to a worthy charity.

Outside Recess

It’s that time of year when we need to remind student to make sure they have appropriate clothing for recess. The district policy states students will be going outside for recess if the temperature and the wind chill are above 20 degrees. We have extra coats, hats, and gloves for students in need. Please contact the front office if you need assistance.

Students must go outside unless we have a doctor statement.

HEALTHY CELEBRATIONS

While we love to celebrate, please remember that there is a “no birthday treats “ guideline. To access fun and helpful resources for healthy celebration ideas please visit the district wellness policy by clicking on this link. Also, note that no birthday invitations are allowed to be distributed at school. It is school policy.

SCHOOL DISTRICT PUBLICATIONS/ NEWS MEDIA USE FOR STUDENTS

The occasion may arise when the school district wants to recognize your child or your child’s school. This may include your child’s photo, your child’s name or your child’s work in district publications, newsletters, on school district websites, and in electronic/social media or in staff training videos. We may also want to tell the media (including newspapers, television, and radio) about your child’s achievements. We never knowingly release information about a student to anyone who wants to use it for commercial/political purposes. However, we will honor your request to not include your child in these types of recognitions if you notify your child’s school office in writing that you do not want this type of information released.
