WSCA Joins CSAGH

The Bible Baptist Church congregation voted on the offer from the Christian School Association of Greater Harrisburg (CSAGH) to acquire West Shore Christian Academy. We are pleased to tell you that 88% of the members present voted in favor of the acquisition, which gives approval for CSAGH to move forward with acquiring WSCA. We encourage you to save the date for Thursday, December 8, 2016 at 7:00pm for a parent meeting with Phil Puleo, Harrisburg Christian School Headmaster, and representatives of the CSAGH Board, who will present the vision for HCS and WSCA going forward. The meeting will be held in the church sanctuary. We are excited for the future of West Shore Christian Academy and Harrisburg Christian School and their impact on Christian Education in Central Pennsylvania.

"Save Around" Coupon Book Fundraiser

WSCA is doing an all-school fundraiser for student activities such as field trips, retreats, and on-campus activities. "Save Around" coupon books, order forms, and informational flyers were sent home with K-12 students on November 22, and we hope you will show them to your friends and family over Thanksgiving break. The books sell for $25.00 and are filled with coupons for the greater Harrisburg area. You can even go online and order books for other cities. There are prizes for students who sell certain amounts of books, including a limo ride, pizza party, and opportunities to grab CASH! We hope you will support our school and participate in this great fundraiser.

Faculty Achievement

Congratulations to Mr. Johnson on winning the Harrisburg Marathon with a time of 2:36:18! Amazing!

Congratulations to Mrs. Cramer who is completing her doctoral recital today! We are blessed to have her talents at WSCA!

Student Employment Opportunity

GTP operates state-of-the-art digital photography locations throughout central PA, including Hersheypark, Dutch Wonderland and the Strasburg Railroad. They also provide equipment and expertise to other businesses throughout the US and internationally. Within the central PA locations, they staff numerous roaming photographers, who photograph hundreds of groups a day and produce ready-to-purchase photos without the assistance of editing. They also hire sales associates who greet guests and assist with selection of photo products. GTP is currently looking to fill positions in Hersheypark, Dutch Wonderland, and Strasburg Railroad. If interested, please apply online at www.gtpcorp.com or contact them via email at gtpinfo@gtpcorp.com today!

CATS Announcement

It is our privilege to pray for our school community. We encourage parents, faculty, and staff to email your prayer requests to our NEW EMAIL address, catsprayerteam@westshorechristian.org. The account will be checked daily. Prayer requests may also be placed in the boxes located in both school offices. if you would like prayer on someone's behalf, please get their permission before submitting the request. We do not want anyone to feel that their privacy has been invaded.

Host Families Needed

We currently have 16 international students journeying life with us here at WSCA. As a community, we would like to embrace these students with God’s love of hospitality. Being a host parent is both receiving a blessing, as well as giving a blessing. We have a current need for at least two homes to host. We have a 9th grader from Malaysia and a 7th grader from Japan who will start in January 2017. Both are boys. If you are interested in learning more about this unique ministry and the possibility of hosting these students, please contact Lilian Schultz for further details (lschultz@westshorechristian.org) or 717-737-3550 ext. 128). Host families will receive orientation as well as compensation for this ministry.

Leadership Opportunity for Sophomores

Registration is now open for the Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Program (HOBY). It is a four-day program for sophomores only in which students stay in dormitories on a University campus, engage in activities to explore leadership, perform community service, and acquire skills and inspiration to be effective, ethical leaders. This year's conference is from 5/18/17 through 5/21/17; the location has not yet been released. The only cost is a $195 registration fee. WSCA can only send one student, so interested sophomores should contact Mrs. Werner as soon as possible to schedule an interview.

Art Class Fundraiser

The Art Department is raising money for art materials and field trip funds
by creating student made Christmas Cards through Mountain Color/My Cards.
Your child will shortly be learning about card design, production, and the
printing process in art class. They will learn about these concepts by
creating a Christmas greeting card with the option for families to purchase
them in time to send the card to your loved ones for Christmas.
Each card will be a full colored reproduction of the student’s design on
premium card stock with his or her name on the back!
Purchasing your child’s card is optional but the Art Department will receive
$3.00 for every box that is sold! If you decide to purchase a box, you will
receive 10 (4x5) greeting cards for $14.95. You will be getting more
information as well as an order envelope shortly!
Thank you so much for your consideration in supporting your child’s creative
Arts Education; as well as your unwavering support and your investment in
your student’s learning and future at WSCA!

Register your Giant A+ Rewards Card

We are less than two weeks away from the start of the Giant A+ Rewards Program and we need your help!! Giant gives away 3 Million Dollars annually to local schools and we have launched a campaign to help WSCA earn a chunk of that change. We set a goal to register 1000 cards, which means we need each family to ask five friends, relatives, or neighbors to register their Giant Bonuscard to go toward West Shore Christian Academy. The process to register is EASY! Simply, visit giantfoodstores.com/aplus and select REGISTER YOUR CARD found in the red box on the right. Follow the directions to enter your Bonuscard number and the WSCA SCHOOL ID # is: 20565.
