Caruso Connect - September 10th
#CarusoWay
WOW! It has been a fast three day week! We hope this past long weekend was a good one for you and your students. This week we held our first Cross Country Race, Soccer Game, and Volleyball Games! It was amazing to see your students dressed in their blue and white (tie dye in the case of the cross country team) back on the course, field, and court. If you student has not found a sport or club to join, I would encourage them to do so. We all know the positive effects that can come from student involvement in extracurricular activities. Please encourage your students to listen to the daily announcements to hear of all of the great opportunities!
If your student rides a bus, they have an assigned seat. Please ensure that your student has a bus pass with a seat number. We have been visiting busses to ensure that students are in the correct seats. While we recognize this is not the most fun for students, it allows us to, if needed, contact trace a bus. If your students needs a bus pass or has questions, please have them come and see us in the office.
Please see this week's Caruso Connect for our Blue Jays of the Week and more information including heath requirements for this school year!
Have a GREAT weekend,
Tim, Caitlin, and Casey

Student Health Requirements 21-22
We recognize and are mindful of the fact that many families may have had difficulty getting children in for physical, dental, and eye exams as the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has presented many challenges to routine medical care; however, at this time, all child-health related requirements for school attendance, remain in effect for children in public, private, or parochial schools, as per 105 ILCS 5/27-8.1.
Health-related examinations and immunization requirements are due no later than October 15. Please click here to be directed to our website for detailed information regarding specific requirements by grade level.
You will soon be receiving communication from our building nurse if your child is missing any of the required documentation. Students not in compliance with the health examination and immunization requirements will be excluded from school beginning Friday, October 15, 2021. Please reach out with any questions regarding these requirements as we want to partner with you to ensure compliance with these requirements. Thank you.
Wednesday ExSEL
This week students met in their ExSEL groups!
ExSEL (Executive Functioning + Social-Emotional Learning) is a new addition to our Wednesday early release schedule. This is designated school-wide time each week for students to build relationships with teachers and peers. During this time, students will have the space and opportunity to check in with teachers while focusing on social-emotional learning, executive functioning, relationship building, coping strategies, and self-awareness.

Activities and Sports Update
One of the best things about school is all the clubs and activities that are offered! We are THRILLED to bring back a full slate of options for lots of ways to get involved at Caruso. Please check out our Clubs and Activities Website for more information - when you find a club you're interested in joining, click on the page for more info and reach out to the sponsor!
We encourage every single student to join at least ONE club or activity this year -- and if your student has an idea for a club that currently isn't being offered, reach out to Mrs. Lucci with a proposal and we'll try to get it up and running!
