Rollins Elementary House System
We are Rollins. Six Houses. One Family.
What is the House System?
Implementing a House System will provide benefits that deeply impact the entire school community. The purpose is to create a strong sense of belonging which is at the heart of our house culture. Our houses will facilitate unity and relationships which span across all grade levels and increase a sense of excellence and pride in the school. They also create an element of fun and magic within our school family! All students and staff will be sorted into one of six houses that match our school Learning Powers.
How will students be sorted?
Staff was sorted at the beginning of the year into our six houses: Grit, Connection, Reflection, Imagination, Noticing, and Wonder. Staff members were sorted using a wheel to randomly sort them into these houses. Students will be randomly sorted using a spinner wheel into these houses on September 18th and 19th!! The sorting will take place in their homeroom class.
Students are in a House, now what?
All of the students and staff will be able to see and connect with other members of their house family through weekly house meetings and assemblies. At house assemblies each house will deck out in their house colors and show their house pride!!
Each Friday we will either have a house meeting or assembly. During house meetings we will focus on getting to know and having fun with our house families! There we will focus on learning all about our Learning Powers and engaging in fun activities to utilize these skills!
Assemblies are going to be a time where we are going to recognize birthdays, accomplishments of individuals and houses. Students from every classroom and specialty area will be recognized for displaying Trusted Trailblazer behaviors. The houses will get to show off their house pride by showing off their colors, chants, and mottos! Each month a house will be recognized as House of the Month. This will be determined by our house point system! The winning house will get to celebrate with our school Mascot, Doc, throughout the assembly!
House Points
Students can earn points for their house by displaying positive behaviors. Houses can also earn points for showing pride for their house at assemblies! Each month, the house with the most points will get to have Doc, our Trailblazer mascot, sit with them at the monthly assembly! House points are earned, not taken away!
