Thank you to all of the grandparents who came to visit. Everyone had a great time

playing games, posing for fun pictures and eating cookies!

Kindness Week is October 22nd through the 26th. At Sunflower we know kindness is not a one-time project, it is a way of life. During Kindness Week, we will put even greater emphasis on acts of kindness that we will then carry out through the year. Some activities being planned include:

· daily all school kindness challenges that we will then make into weekly kindness challenges the remainder of the school year

· kids will create compliment name plates in which each child will have a name plate that their classmates will write positive notes on

· students will also focus on an introspective graphic organizer in which they will create inspiring self-affirmations for themselves

· as part of the 7 Mindsets we are learning, we will talk about "Live to Give". Sunflower students will host an appreciation lunch on Friday the 26th for all Paola Police Officers and Miami County Sheriff Deputies.

We encourage parents to talk to their kids about the kindness challenges. Be sure to have your child(ren) share their name plates and graphic organizer with you, too! Students are encouraged to find a special place at home to display their keepsakes all year!

Take a brief moment to watch this video with your child(ren) and talk about how kindness spreads:
