the problem of the death penalty
The issue for the death penalty is it is not always fair that african americans and hispanics are always blaed for the death most of the time.it is an issue because most of the people who get blamed for the death penalty did not do the crime.1,188 people were executed in the US from 1977 through 2009, primarily by means of lethal injection.Proponents of the death penalty say it is an important tool for preserving law and order, deters crime, and costs less than life imprisonmenThey argue that retribution or "an eye for an eye" honors the victim.Opponents of capital punishment say it has no deterrent effect on crime, wrongly gives governments the power to take human life, and perpetuates social injustices by disproportionately targeting people of color (racist) and people who cannot afford good attorneys (classist).
pros
The first pro is "The crimes of rape, torture, treason, kidnapping, murder, larceny, and perjury pivot on a moral code that escapes apodictic [indisputably true] proof by expert testimony or otherwise. The second pro is "[T]he fact that blacks and Hispanics are charged with capital crimes out of proportion to their numbers in the general population may simply mean that blacks and Hispanics commit capital crimes out of proportion to their numbers.the third pro is,"Despite the fact that African Americans make up only 13 percent of the nation’s population, almost 50 percent of those currently on the federal death row are African American.
cons
the first con is, the moral question surrounding capital punishment in America.the second con is, has less to do with whether those convicted of violent crime deserve to die than with whether state and federal governments deserve to kill those whom it has imprisoned. the third con is, The legacy of racial apartheid, racial bias, and ethnic discrimination is unavoidably evident in the administration of capital punishment in America.
