Peirce Diverse Learners Parent Resource Group
Complete survey by December 21
This group of and for parents, co-chaired by parents Kathy Herwig and Amber Jipp, is working to make sure that every Peirce student who is a diverse learner is set up to succeed and reach their full potential. Please take 3-5 minutes to complete a survey that will help the group better serve you! Some ideas might include resources about how to navigate the IEP process, resources for supporting your diverse learner at home, a resource library and workshops. So far this year, the group has hosted a Dyslexia Awareness Room on Peirce Literacy Night, including a dyslexia simulation, resource guides, books and a student speaker. The group also hosted a workshop on positive parenting with Tuesday’s Child during Inclusive Schools Week last week.
In-Person Volunteer Opportunities
Help keep the Peirce Website up to date!
Peirce is looking for someone (or even a few people) to take over Peirce website updating duties from Kathy Herwig so that the site can be an up-to-date resource for parents. The site lives on a Weebly platform, and you don’t have to be tech savvy to make updates! CPS even provides some support and a catalog of how-to videos to help get you through sticky spots. Please contact Principal Zaimi if you’re interested.
Team Up to Clean Up Peirce!
A message from parent Tracy Didriksen: “Hello all! Just a reminder and call-out for more folks to join the awesome playground clean-up crew! Literally, all it takes is 5 minutes - within that amount of time you will have made a measurable difference, gotten a good sweaty work-out and will feel great about your fantastic contribution to our school. Join anytime you can - we’re out there every Monday after drop-off (or Tuesday if school is closed on the Monday like this week). I’ll bring gloves and bags. A huge thanks to the amazing folks who came out last week, and all the weeks before that. Let’s keep teaming up to clean up!”
