SURPRISE AND DELIGHT - SECOND GRADERS READ UNDER THE STARS

This week we read the book “How many stars in the sky” and studied the setting. In science, we learned about constellations. So today the kids had a surprise and delight where we read under the stars and had starbursts and a moon-shaped cookie. They loved it!

MIDDLE SCHOOL FIELD TRIP TO 9/11 EXHIBIT

This week the 7th and 8th grade students were invited to visit the Concord library to visit the 9/11 exhibit. While there, they were able to view several posters detailing 9/11, create paper cranes, browse the teens section and check out books, and sign up for library cards. Students enjoyed walking there for a few hours Friday morning to learn more about 9/11 as we approach the 20th anniversary. In social studies classes, 6th graders also learned about 9/11 by having an engaging discussion and writing a letter to a personal hero within their own life.

K-8 SEL CORNER - YELLOWJACKETS OF THE WEEK!!!

Our most recent YellowJackets of the Week represent our most honest hive members!

An honest person is truthful, sincere, and fair. Imagine that you got to class before your teacher and accidentally knocked into your teacher’s favorite coffee mug (and it broke!). When your teacher gets to the classroom, they ask for an explanation. What are your choices in this situation? 1) You could tell them you have NO IDEA how it happened, or 2) you could be honest and tell them exactly how the mug was broken. Many times in your life, you may be faced with the choice of telling the truth or telling a lie. But, no matter the situation, being honest and telling the truth is usually the best choice.
