Principals Message
Thank you for taking the time to read the updates for this week, March 7, 2022. Here are some reminders:
-Guidance on Masking and K-12 Schools
(Information was shared via the Hueneme Elementary School District CHANNEL )
“Earlier this week Governor Newsom announced that the State’s requirement for student masking in schools will expire at the end of the day on Friday, March 11, 2022. Here is a copy of the message that was sent to all families on February 28th:
Beginning on Monday, March 14, 2022, wearing masks indoors for students will be strongly recommended, but not required.
We recognize and understand that our students have not been on campus without a mask for nearly two years. For some, they have never been on campus without a face mask. This will be a time of transition for all of our students. As we get closer to March 14th, please talk with your student about whether or not they will continue to wear a mask after March 14th. We continue to strongly recommend and encourage wearing a mask, but respect this personal choice. If your child expresses any anxiety, please feel free to reach out to their school counselor for additional support.
As a reminder, please continue screening your students at home for COVID-19 symptoms. If they are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms, keep them at home. HESD will continue to supply masks for staff and students as well as operate our HESD COVID-19 testing site to ensure that testing is readily available.” For further details, visit the HESD Website.
-Trimester 2 Report Cards go home on Friday, March 18, 2022.
-We will have a Lockdown Priority 2 drill sometime during this week. If you live in the neighborhood around the school you may hear the drill and see a police presence.
-Students are NOT allowed to wear ANY sports-related articles like hats, jerseys, lanyards, etc.,Thank you for reminding your student about keeping them at home.
Attentively,
Mrs Melgoza-Vasquez
School Principal
Student Chromebook Maintenance
Please take a moment to have your student shut down and restart their devices.
We have made some updates and a device restart is necessary as soon as possible to ensure they continue accessing websites as expected.
This need is specific to Chromebooks, but if your students have iPads, I bet they will benefit from a "powernap", too. Hold down the button on top until the "slide to power off" slider shows, then slide it.
