From the Director
Dear CDS Community,
Parent Teacher Conferences (PTC) will take place this week! We look forward to connecting with you via Zoom to discuss your child's growth and progress thus far in the school year.
As we stated in a separate letter last week, PTC meeting duration will be 15 minutes. Specialists will be available to meet Monday (4/20) and Wednesday (4/22) from 4-7pm. Core teachers will make themselves available for conferences on Tuesday (4/21) and Thursday (4/23) from 4-7pm.
Please remember that students will not follow the synchronous schedule on Friday, April 24th. Students should use this day to catch up on any missing work and, if possible, spend time on activities away from screens like reading a good book, exercising, making art, or practicing an instrument.
Tomorrow morning we will send you a document with the Zoom links you will use to join the discussion with your child's teachers. Each teacher will have their own "Zoom room" that can be accessed simply by clicking on their name.
Interpreters, if requested at the time of booking, will be available in the virtual space to support communication.
A few important notes concerning Zoom:
Prior to using Zoom for the first time it will take 1-2 minutes to set up.
If you are not familiar with Zoom - click here
Here is a tutorial of what you might see when you login to zoom for a PTC.
Please make sure your camera and microphone are working and on during meetings.
If you are early to a meeting you will be placed in a digital waiting room until the teacher has completed their previous meeting and/or admits you.
If you do not have a scheduled meeting, you will not be admitted. Please contact the MS Office if you would like to set up a meeting.
If you have any concerns or technology issues, please contact the MS Office for support.
Students and teachers... this is your last opportunity to submit work for the schoolwide lip sync video! Ms. Stant has done a wonderful job organizing this event for our community and I’m eager to see the final product! If you have a video you would like to submit, please get it to Ms. Stant through email.
Please stay safe and healthy and have a great week!
Best regards,
Mr. Scoville

How do I Connect with a Teacher via Zoom?
[This week at CDS MS / 이번주 CDS MS]
E-learning Expert of the Week
The "E-learning Expert of the Week" is a selected student who has been doing an outstanding job with our E-learning environment. An E-learning Expert is prompt to virtual classes, consistently completes his/her's work on time, demonstrates a positive and interactive attitude, and shines during this difficult situation. We ask the selected student to share some tips on his/her's success.
Grade 8 has nominated Ethan Hong as our E-Learning Expert of the Week! Ethan has gone above and beyond to hand in assignments on time, ask excellent questions, participate in discussion, and set a great example for his peers. He has done an excellent job of epitomizing the hard work and mindfulness necessary to find success in online learning. Included in the post are some E-Learning tips that have helped make Ethan successful. The 8th grade teachers are proud to nominate a student that has shown the ability to demonstrate CDS' 6 C's digitally!

Whole School Unity Project - Lip Sync Video!
Hello Cheongna Dalton School!
We are excited to announce that our school will be participating in a whole school (First Program, Middle School, and High School) unity project. Students from Pre-K all the way to Grade 12, teachers, staff and parents, will be invited to participate in this exciting Lip Sync Video! Our faculty have brainstormed various song choices and have chosen the upbeat and positive song, "Don't Worry, Be Happy," by Bobby McFerrin. We are asking for participants to: lip sing to all or part of the song, dance to part of the song, play a pretend instrument (i.e. an air guitar or air drum set), wave to the camera, or even smile to the camera for a few seconds. Any idea is a great idea!
FP students will be creating their videos in Mr. Fejes' Music class this week on Seesaw. Middle and High School students will be creating their videos this week and submitting them to their House teacher by Friday.
Parents can submit their videos directly to our Drama teacher, Ms. Desiree Stant, at: dstant@daltonschool.kr by Friday April 17th.
We have included a link to the Roll Out Video that some of our on-campus FP students made for the whole school. We have also included a link to the original music video for your review.
We hope you are as excited as we are to participate in this uplifting and fun unity project at CDS!

Library Book Pick-Up
Students,
I am thrilled that you all will be checking out books...they have been lonely at school without you! To check out books, please fill out this form. Make sure to read all the instructions, like which day you are allowed to come and pick up your books. Also, when you do come, return the books that you currently have. Many students want to read the same books so once you have finished one, return it so someone else can read it!
The picture below shows how you will pick up your books. Come in through the main doors and you will immediately see a table with the books. The big blue box is where you should drop off your return books. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to send me an email (ecarley@daltonschool.kr).
Happy reading!
- Ms. Carley
Give Us Hope Project
This past week, students submitted their initial videos for their Give Us Hope Virtual Choir project and received feedback on their videos. Students can continue practicing their parts in order to re-record their video in 2-3 weeks to have a higher quality recording. We will be sending all the videos for a professional audio engineer to put together the final video. We want this to be a special and positive message of music that we can share with others! Please continue to support your student with practicing. New instructions will be shared with students next week! Stay tuned!
