2nd graders learning in the meadow!
2nd graders learning about habitat restoration
A big thanks to our many STRAW experts!
Greetings CES Families,
Reading each night? 20 minutes/night. Send me your pictures and your favorite books and we'll put them in an upcoming newsletter!
Chester Elementary PTA. We had a great meeting this past week with our CES PTA leaders and our California state PTA friends. They provided a wealth of information, including the many benefits of being a PTA member. Please click on the link below to learn more, and consider joining our CES PTA by visiting the office to pick up a form. Cost is only $6.
STRAW this week (Students and Teachers Restoring A Watershed). Thanks to our parent Mr. Ryan Burnett (Point Blue Conservation Science Director) and many of our local volunteers, teachers and parents, students have been participating in this invaluable program that teaches our students about habitat restoration. Our students have been learning from guest speakers in the classroom and in the meadow, and now our 2nd-6th graders will be participating in a day working in the field on habitat restoration. A big thanks to Mr. Burnett, Point Blue and the many volunteers who make this special opportunity happen for our students. For more information on Point Blue, you can visit their website at https://www.pointblue.org/
CES students on CJHS campus after school. Please reinforce to your child that they cannot be on the CJHS campus during CJHS's school hours. With CES releasing at 2:35 on normal days, and CJHS releasing at 3:10, students may be visiting CJHS from 2:35-3:10. Exceptions may be made by CJHS if a parent is picking up siblings at both schools and has the CES student walk to CJHS. They will need to be on their best behavior in a designated area.
After School Homework - Teachers are giving their valuable time on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 2:45-3:45. Teachers are willing to assist students with their homework. However, students need to be motivated to work and on their best behavior. If not, then they will need to make a parent phone call and will be sent home early. Thanks for your understanding.
Flu mists will be administered at CES on October 31st, thanks to our friends with Plumas Health. Look for information coming home in our Monday Green Folder or the attached flyer..
Plumas Rural Services offers parenting support classes. For more information please visit their site: https://www.plumasruralservices.org/parenting/index.html Thanks!
In closing, we appreciate your ongoing support and teaming with us to make 2019-2020 an exceptional elementary experience for our students. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns. Thanks!
