ECHS Family News
August 29, 2022
Dear ECHS Family,
With mixed emotions, I write to tell you that I will serve Charleston County School District as the Interim Executive Director of Communications beginning September 6, 2022.
Since its inception, Early College has been a community of believers who - together - dared to actualize the impossible for our children and students. It is in that spirit that I move into this new role.
I leave ECHS knowing there is a solid and sturdy foundation and that the ECHS mission is undoubtedly bigger than me. Early College High School has always been a labor of shared love for students, for education, and for a school that could be more than our wildest dreams. The work at ECHS is truly led by the talented group of dedicated educators and by our determined and persistent students.
Mr. Reese will serve as the Interim Principal. Our school community could not hope for a more dedicated, professional, or capable leader than Mr. Reese. I am confident that our school will continue to excel under his thoughtful leadership and passion for serving first-generation college-goers.
I will always remain connected to ECHS through my work and in my heart. Still specifically, I will continue to lead the work for the new ECHS support building, and Mr. Reese and I will maintain a close professional relationship. Students, I look forward to hearing about all of the wonderful things that your future holds and want you to know that my email will remain the same.
Leading ECHS for the past five and a half years and founding this school have been among the most humbling journeys of my life and one of the greatest blessings. I have loved every single minute. Every one of you has touched and enriched my life. You have made me a better educator and a better human being. Thank you. You have believed in the “ECHS Way,” and I feel overwhelmed by the great privilege it has been to be a part of your dreams and your journey. Thank you for creating this beautiful family and allowing me to be a part of it.
My grandfather, Romeo Gambassi, felt strongly that the words “goodbye” should never be used, so I’ll think of him as I say “so long” until our paths cross again.
Yours,
Vanessa L. Denney
